So I just read chapter 185. And I have no idea what is going on. At all. I read the two posts concerning the chapter, and all the comments. And my brain is still broken.
THE VATICAN IS SCREWED. :< I am deeply displeased with this DGM Vatican. I mean, it's fictional and all, but I kind of want to slap that Pope anyway.
I'll help how I can, though I don't know all that much. :] I'm pretty sure the image was of Kanda, since he had hair, and the proportions looked a little lengthy to be Marie. The person talking was definitely Marie, though I'm sure you knew that already. ;D I haven't got a clue as to the timeline of Kanda's arrival, sadly. I'd like to know myself. The tragedy itself, though--Do you know what they're talking about? I think they're talking about when they were trying to create exorcists by forcing Innocence into them--since that would put Lenalee at the right age--but I'm not sure. Your thoughts?
And also, I think Cross is a spectator. Possibly an archangel. I'll bet he's just there to watch and f*ck with people's minds. :]
You, me, assassination mission -> we'll get the crazy pope and the oozing mass of evil pus masquerading as Leverrier. y/y
Ah, I hadn't thought that Bak could have been referring to the Innocence experimentation (god that is a sick, sick pun) I thought he was referring to another instance of experimenting with dark matter/energy/whatever. How does that tie in with Kanda then? I thought, when it said he was connected, that his tattoo-thing was involved...
Ooo, you don't think Cross is human? I like. (haha, Allen was right all along) Although it seems too much like he's got his own agenda to just be a spectator. He could be like Gandalf, there to play everybody like the little pawns they are and pull strings in the background. That said, I think he's too much of a magnificent bastard to be anything but human. :P
I suppose that if it really was the Innocence Bak was talking about, maybe there was an accident with one of the experiments? I went back and reread the chapter really slowly, and I'm second-guessing that suspicion. It was just the first thing that popped into my head. Now, I'm wondering what Tokusa meant by "biological generation". Breeding? Because then Kanda could be a Crow/Human kid. :o This chapter makes my brain go haywire. x;
Cross = magnificent bastard = yes. I kind of like the idea of him being an archangel, or a guardian angel for Allen, but he is such a total jerk.
A thought I just had. We've seen what seem to be representations of lesser demons--the Akuma--, major demons--the Noah--, the devil--Millennium Earl--, lesser angels--the exorcists--, and major angels--Hevlaska--, but what about G-d?
(pardon the removal of the o; it's a personal thing).
there are so many things I want to know. First off Kanda, he can't be half akuma right? Allen's arm activated when he touches Goushi but how come when Allen touched Kanda's arm in vol 2 the 8th night, nothing of the sort happened and his eye didn't respond either. It is because Kanda might have been an early experiment, like they did with the other children by forcing innocence in them? he might have some akuma powers or something plus Bak mentions 9 years ago which if Kanda is now 19 yrs old then he might be referring to him? I hate he Black Order, they are suppose to be purifying the Akuma instead like Allen has been doing. Hoshino is going way off with this. Akuma are originally machine, grief and soul...how? so confused
I suspect the other side of the war is Earl, Exorcist and Half-Akuma-Half human. I think the powers they have are some what like hosting the Akuma's powers within their body to use it as an advantage towards defeating Earl, like they want to take him out so bad that they resorted to using the Akuma instead of purifying them to let the souls rest like they SHOULD. Allen's Innocence and cursed eye probably reacts towards it because the Akuma still resides within the human, though I find it very hard to believe Kanda is like the members of Crow but possibly early experiments alike have caused him to be immune to their blood virus.
When Cross said "another side to the war" I thought he meant that there was another side to be sympathetic with, somehow. Because clearly the Black Order is going to hell. Allen, take the Ark and get out of there! They. Are Bad. People! Komui and Lenalee and the other good people can come too
Immune to the blood virus would be interesting.
Kanda's Japanese right? So how did he get from Japan, which is controlled by the Earl and akuma and has closed borders, to the Black Order? o.O
I took Cross as saying that they aren't the only side like Akuma/Earl/Noah v.s. Black Order/Exorcists, isn't that what Bookman and Lavi was leaning towards? I took it as that.
He is but it was always a mystery to why and how Kanda came to have these healing powers. I hope Kanda arc covers some of it atleast
I don' know how long Earl has been controlling Edo but maybe after Tiedoll already made him his apprentice.
Did everyone forget about the skull people with Aum as well?
Obviously Kanda was meant to be one of the sacrifices, and if we look to the mark on his shoulder and remember "I cannot die until I find that person" then think about Marie saying Allen and Kanda were better and Cross telling Allen, "What would happen if you had to kill someone you love?"
Personally, I'm thrilled with the Kanda/Allen going on.
Certainly Kanda has some sort of curse or experimentation, though I'm leaning more toward a combo that, maybe with a curse, horribly backfired.
Sorry for being incoherent on my end -- going on a week no sleep so my apologies.
I think Kanda could be meant to be a sacrifice for the Order tied in with the lotus. When he finds "that person" he'll die or rather can't die until then. Kanda's an invaluable fighter but also seems to be meant to be disposable.
Skull people from the Ark before killing did the Aum symbol, which is the symbol on Kanda's chest though elaborated. If you wikipedia Aum it's really interesting in terms of symbolism for Life.
And yeah, I think Cross was implying that Allen would have to kill Kanda since I think the initial/original translation is, "What if you have to kill that person you love?" The double of the death, killing, and that person seem like clues, and not careless ones in terms of vocabulary. Also, with how many times Kanda and Allen save each other and now being considered so similar, plus having every traditional yaoi stance there could be... yeah. I'm happy.

Either way, can't wait for more. It's about time.

You think the person Cross told Allen he would have to kill is Kanda - or did I get that wrong?
