Summary: On a train ride, Marie and Miranda both worry about the other. And find a way to bond.
Notes: I don't feel too confident with this fic. This is the first time I tried writing Marie/Miranda (and those characters over all!). Plus, I had no beta, so I worry about my grammar and such. I hope I did decently and you enjoy your fic!

It was a simple briefing, she and Marie were going to go on a mission together to a town in Rome to investigate what some people have thought to be the arrival of ‘Zeus’ due to the signs in the area. The Finders have concluded Innocence was at work and now it was up to the two of them to go investigate. He just nodded and listened to the mission, looking over at her when he heard her teeth chatter at what he thought was the idea of an Innocence creating ‘Zeus’ like abilities. But, in fact, it was due to being on a mission with him.

He made her feel giddy. Giddy of all the feelings he could have made her feel. He could have made her feel frightened due to his massive size alone, he could have made her feel protected for the same reason. But…he made her feel giddy, a feeling love struck girls got when thinking of their beaus, not a full grown woman like herself thinking of a co-worker.

A co-worker…that felt so cold to say, but Miranda had often been told by the people training her to think of her fellow Exorcists and the Finders as just that. That emotional attachment to them can lead to a weakness no one could afford. A weakness she didn’t want to add onto her list of weaknesses that only she saw. She wanted to be a good, proud member of the Order. Not a burden, not lose her concentration incase someone close to her got hurt and end up letting more people get hurt.

Miranda knew she shouldn’t feel like this.

So, while on the train to Rome, she sat in silence-a silence she knew to the man on the other side of the cart they were in must have been deafening and much too noisy due to the sound of the train, the other heart beats and her own panicked breathing.

“Miranda…” Marie spoke looking in her general direction. His voice was a gentle rumble, it felt nice to listen to and she wondered for just a moment if he could tell what just him saying her name did to her. “What does it look like outside?”

She blinked at the odd request before a part of Miranda reminded her that yes, he was blind. But, if he was blind why would he care what it looked like outside?

“Um. Um.” she said standing up to look out the window. “T-there are a lot of trees, and a few clouds in the sky. O-oh! There is also a few goats grazing. And a baby one!”

Marie nodded, “What colors are they?”

“T-They were gray with a few spots, but they passed by really quickly.” She was starting to relax, the awkward silence wasn’t there anymore, just her explaining the scenery and him asking for more information on the sights.

It went on like this until he decided to talk some himself outside of simple questions about the shapes of the clouds or the spots on the goats or the toys the children were playing with. He was a brave man, he was the type of person who would fight Akuma without seeing them or be willing to hold back Kanda once someone got him upset. But this…this was going to be hard for him and he knew it. He drummed his fingers on the seat, the sound comforting to him as he finally opened his mouth.

“You describe things in a beautiful way.” then he mentally face-palmed, that sounded like something Master would say. What’s next? Asking her if she liked Soba like Kanda probably would? Asking her if she likes balls in the double entrede way he could see Daisya doing?

Miranda paused at that, as she felt a blush creep up upon her face her heart beat suddenly seemed much louder to herself. “U-umum..Thank you!” she said still not used to simple compliments. She was now focusing slightly on the large man sitting across from her wondering if he was just being nice. But, luckily, Marie already knew judging by how she had acted with previous members of the Order that she was thinking that. So he smiled and focused some more on her, her heartbeat was going faster and faster much like his own.

“I really mean it too.” he said wanting to try and comfort her. “Kanda describes things in short little bursts for example. ‘There is a fucking goat’ or ‘Someone is sleeping. I didn’t catch the color of his shirt.’” he was going to be more talkative and attempt to show his feeling for her somehow. …Because he also knew the woman wouldn’t do it for herself. He felt like if Miranda would, the entire male population would shift their focus from the other few women to her. Truthfully, while that would probably help build her up some he felt a bit…jealous at the thought. “So…do you write thing? Such as poetry?” he asked after a few awkward moments.

“U-Um no!”

Now! A voice in the back of his shouted at him. NOW you can actually try a pick up line on her!. Marie opened his mouth and tried it.

“Well, you describe things so nicely I thought you were.”

Damn it, that wasn’t a pick up line, that was just another awkward compliment. He focused on the sound of the wheels underneath them.

“T-thank you!” she said again, glad the man couldn’t see how red he was making her. “I-I was worried I wasn’t describing things well enough.”

He focused on her again, “You did wonderfully, I use to be able to see until I was 10 and got into an accident. While my Innocence allows me to hear more than I could ever see, sometimes, I like knowing about how some things look so I can try and picture it. Normally, details I like are left out, but you usually got the ones I like head on.”

She smiled, feeling a bit more relaxed about the non mission parts now. Maybe she could stay on his good side by describing things to him? If on the missions she didn’t mess up and make him hate her forever…which unbeknownst to her would be next to impossible to do.
