[ it's taken alma.. a long time to recover. and not only recover, but to find some kind of peace with himself, with who and what he is. he still-- isn't really sure he knows, even after months, but he's-- he's doing better, anyway. he knows he is. he's not so terribly confused by it all, now, and he thinks he might remember what it was like

-- Alma? [Approaching the bench from behind and leaning over to get a look at his face, to make sure this was the same one. He thought he'd gone home]

[ a blink, and he tips his head back to smile faintly up at him. ]

Yuu. [ he reaches up, fingers curling loosely in the end of kanda's ponytail, tugging fondly. ]

Have you been here this whole time?

[thispromisekept]

Yeah, mostly. There's parts I don't really remember, but I think-- I think I've been here-- [ the faintly distressed expression returns, because.. he really doesn't remember. but a moment later, he shakes it off. ]

[flowercomplex]

Don't remember? [That really doesn't sound good to Kanda, either. Not remembering from the seals is one thing, forgetting what was happening after was another.

Moves around the bench to sit down on it] I couldn't find you after you arrived. I thought you went back.

[thispromisekept]

.. I-- [ a pause, and he hesitantly leans against him, resting his head on kanda's shoulder. ] .. I was afraid. I didn't know.. what was me and what was her.

[flowercomplex]

[Looks down at him, confused. Not at the head on his shoulder, but at his words] Isn't it all the same?

[thispromisekept]

[ he lifts his head again, shaking it emphatically. ]

No! No, it isn't-- I'm not her and she's not me, Yuu, but-- we are, at the same time. She was your lover. But.. you and me, we weren't raised knowing that. I-- we were friends. Sometimes. We fought all the time, remember? I'm Alma.

[He furrows his brow a little. Kanda never made the distinction himself and for years he had know idea their relationship had turned out differently, for as long as it was]

You were always Alma.

[thispromisekept]

Yeah, but.. it's not that simple. [ he curls his arms back around his knees, resting his chin on top of them. ] I just-- she and I are so different. The only thing we really seem to have in common is you.

[flowercomplex]

... I don't think you're as different as you think.

[thispromisekept]

.. Yeah? [ a faint quirk of his mouth. ] It'd be nice if we weren't.

[ a pause, and he nudges kanda lightly. ]

What're you doing out here, anyway?

[flowercomplex]

... The hallways switched around on me.

[thispromisekept]

[ that startles him into laughter. ]

You really got lost?

[flowercomplex]

I didn't say that. I can find my way back.

[thispromisekept]

[ smugly: ] You didn't need to say it. [ tugs his ponytail again, winding his fingers in it slowly. ] .. I'm glad you grew out your hair.
