[He sits up abruptly in the tree, tilting the hat back to give Bookman a surprised look. Clearly he was aiming with his eyes closed.]

Old man? How'd you get up here?

And you didn't get eaten? [One of the "logs" moves nearby, slithering through the water.]

Nevermind. Since when was that door there? [Not going to apologize for nearly shooting you, nope. Instead going to look scruffy and vaguely derp.]

[Road barely cares about where he is or how he looks, just that she's finally managed to track him down and jump on his back (thank you for the lift up to that branch, Lero). Ah yes, that's much better and the way things should be.]

Oof! [And that has him slipping a little bit so he nearly falls off the branch, only to right himself and rescue his hat from falling into the water below. A scaly tail moves in the water in anticipation.]

Road? [He's rather surprised to see her. Not unhappy though, quite the opposite.]

I've been searching. [He waves a hand vaguely and tries to twist his head around to look at her.] But how did you get all the way out here?

[Of course it makes no difference to Road whether they fall or not, as long as she's barnacled to one of her favourite brothers. She steals the just-rescued hat for herself, giggling when it covers her eyes even though it's not as big as his top hats.]

[The crocodiles below them would certainly enjoy it if they fell, and Tyki would prefer not to get wet with swamp water all the same--mainly because he'd probably get roped into finding her a new dress. He does quirk half a smile at her antics, lifting a hand to press the hat more firmly over her eyes.]

I'll let the Earl secure his own lunch. I was hunting for a solution to the problem of your birthday present. [He blinks at her question.]

Out here. You know, the weeks of travel? Up to the top of this place, then through the giant cheese maze, and past that lost tribe of cannibal pygmys and so on... Unless you know a shortcut I missed.

[Oh he vaguely recalls you. The fellow with the jealous streak. But instead of flashing that feral grin, he takes a moment to look vaguely perplexed. What are you doing all the way out in his swamp? Not that he knows that door leads right back to a main hallways.]

Are you saying I need to work on my aim? [He lifts the gun lazily, pointing it at Lavi's head with a falsely innocent expression.]

[And he grins right back to that false innocence, though there's little humor actually in it. Shoving his hands into his pockets~ He's had some practice dodging gunshots before, and unless Tyki's a very good shot, he's fairly certain the Noah won't actually hit his head anyway.]

Well aiming at the water is going to mess you up, yeah? Shooting fish in a barrel ain't as easy as it sounds.

[Tyki's an absolutely terrible shot. No danger to Lavi, unless by sheer fluke accident he aims well.]

Do you have any other suggestions?

[Because those "logs" he was absently shooting at are drifting rather purposefully towards Lavi.]
