There's a rustle of feathers overhead, a swooping shadow, and Persis touches down, her large white wings outspread behind her. A young woman in her early twenties, she's clothed in tight-fitting leather trousers and a backless shirt (all the better for flying in), heavily jewelled bracelets around both her wrists and an amber Kiss jewel glinting in her naked upper arm, and her long brown hair is tanlged around her head like a lion's mane. Her feathers are ruffled from her long flight, and she shakes herself out and fans her wings, untangling her hair with her fingers, before letting out a whoop and laughing.
"I've never ridden winds like that, not even over the sea!" she exclaims. "I've been flying all the way from home and got turned around over the Galilee." Here she folds her wings behind her-- they're taller than she is by at least half a head, and her wingtips trail on the ground behind her until she holds them erect-- and brushes dust from her clothes. "So tell me, my dearest hosts, where have I landed? Some place suitable for a young woman travelling alone, I hope." She grins. "I am Persis of Monteverde, the angel Ariel's daughter."
