There was dust here, layers of dirt coating the unused furniture, but some time ago, the dust melted away. The couches began to look new again. The kitchen cupboards replenished themselves and the plothole in the closet began spinning once more ( Read more... )

Seraphina is being her usual terribly classy self, sitting at the kitchen table with a bottle of wine in front of her, opened and poured into a glass which she's currently twirling between her fingers. She is fully capable of drinking the entire bottle herself -- with very few consequences -- but really, she'd prefer not to, and so would welcome company to help her take it down.

Who better than her husband, who has managed to even more fully embody the 'absentminded professor' stereotype with the passing of time? He wanders in, distracted entirely by studying his surroundings and noting what has changed about them and what hasn't. Still-- Anton can practically sense Sera, and so he turns suddenly and smiles at her.

"Oh, hello," he says, as if he's just discovered the secret to life, the universe and everything rather than the woman he sees every day sitting at a table. "May I join you?"

"Most definitely not," Seraphina replies firmly, her tone belied by the broad smile lighting her face the minute she sees Anton. "I'm waiting for my husband, and I think he'd be terribly jealous if he saw me with someone as cute as you."

"Oh, how unfortunate," Anton says mildly. "I'm sure your husband is a very lucky man, though." He cocks his head to one side a bit, still smiling. "You wouldn't consider just giving me one chance? I can be charming. I think."

"You seem as if you could be quite charming," she murmurs, looking him over thoughtfully. "Maybe I could be convinced. Maybe."

"I hope I won't disappoint you." His tone is entirely solemn, but the smile's still there as he takes the seat opposite her. "May I share your wine?"

"Of course," and with that we drop the pretense and lean over in order to properly kiss our husband in welcome. "Hi there."

"Oh--" Anton's a bit startled, but only for a second before returning the kiss happily. As he sits back, his smile's even wider, and he pours himself a glass of the wine. "Sera. I may not be the novelty you were looking for here, but..."

"You're much better than anything else I could possibly find," she says firmly, tipping her glass at him in a small mock-toast. "Though I am curious as to what this place might have in store this time around."

Anton obediently raises his glass in turn, then takes a small, thoughtful sip. "I would prefer that it be a bit calmer," he says, speaking more quietly now. Let's be fair, he endured quite a lot of horror back in the day. "But if it can be just as interesting without quite so much... well, destruction..."

She nods, a little more somberly, reaching to gently squeeze his hand. "Fair enough. I must admit that I have an unhealthy enjoyment for certain kinds of destruction, but -- well, calm sounds nice, too."

He gives her a bit of a smile, squeezing her hand firmly in return. "I don't imagine your version of destruction would be too harmful to me," he says, "so I'm happy to let you do whatever you'd like. Within reason."

"That's what I like to hear." This smile is, in return, a little bit wicked as she takes another sip of wine. "Anything new with you I haven't yet heard?"

Anton takes a moment to think about that; he doesn't believe in answering questions without giving them proper consideration. "Well," he offers after a moment, "I think I've come to the realization that Kant and I simply are not meant to be." It seems reasonable to assume that he's nearly at his goal at professorhood by this point in life.

She laughs quietly at that, shaking her head. "So does this mean we're getting another parrot?" Nietzsche is, as always, a valued family member, of course.

He laughs, a little startled but understanding the logic, naturally. "I don't know if that's such a good idea. Maybe a less-- talkative animal. I couldn't take if it we had a parrot who actually took after Kant in any way. It would never shut up."
