So it seems my area is zone 6b for planting... gotta remember that!

Ordered my broccoli, carrots, onions, sage, thyme, parsley, basil, strawberries, marjoram, basil, catnip, peppers, and pea seeds. Need to find where the HELL I get raspberry and blueberry seeds. Durhurhurr. Still need to get tomato and mint seeds... and before you worry, karniz_archada, I am ( Read more... )

the lowes by me never seems to have any raspberry or blueberry plants... maybe tomorrow I'll ask since I'll be going to a different one via shopping center to do food shopping. haha! [or just hit up the lil' farmer's market by me... they seem to sell plants as well as fruits/veggies...]

Chocolate Mint? Like... mint that tastes chocolatey? HOW DO I ACQUIRE THIS OHGOD *flail* Though your idea for regular mint sounds awesome too. haha!

And yeah... deer are EVERYWHERE here. EVERYWHERE. Like, "oph I think I'll go make lunchOHGODWHYARETHERE20DEEROUTSIDE" [I am not exxagerating. We get HERDS... ;_; ] Though I do wonder where one gets blood meal from. [my manager's wife somehow gets ACTUAL WOLF'S BLOOD vials... I am... scared of such a concept. My dad also joked about getting lion dung since he knows someone who works the wilflife area in great adventure. haha...]

As for the soil... I usually stick to Scott's topsoil... it works really well and my plants love it. I did buy a different brand this time around though... I am a bit wary of it. I may just go get more Scotts soil... we shall see.

And I believe my citranella is in fact a geranium. I may do the indoor-container method... though I am semi afraid my cats may try to eat it and get sick. Dumb cats ><;; I know my dad and his friend offered to turn our garage into a semi greenhouse in the winter.... HRRM.

Alpine rock garden eh? I may look into that! I know I also bought four'o'clock seeds since I THINK you told me they like shade... guess I'll save up for some columbines too~! Gotta make the front look nice SOMEHOW. hahaha.

also responding to yer tumblr reply: ONLY ZONE 10?! I guess that makes sense... lion's tail IS a south african plant... I feel so defeated now... I think this is yet another sign I need to go to that damn art college in Georgia. hahahaha.... [I don't think even Georgia is zone 10... DAMN AND HELL AND BLAST.]

and once I get more done progress wise GARDEN JOURNAL SOUNDS AWESOME! Huzzah ♥

Heehe - sadly chocolate mint only SMELLS like chocolate. But Orange/Lemon/Pineapple mint does in fact carry a scent and taste of those items. Only Pineapple mint isn't hardy for our winters... /sad
Blood meal is in any fertilizer section of Lowes/Home Depot. I think it's... Miracle Grow Organic I bought? Also get Bone Meal - bulbed plants like Tulips, Daff's, and GARLIC looooove bone meal. [also roses!]
Your cats might not actually eat the geranium. If anything look into getting a cloche for it then - it'll keep your cats out and it'll look reall purdy.
4'o'clocks are full sun baby. Gorgeous too. Do what I do: come fall, after the ground chills just direct seed the seeds where you want them to grow - you'll get stronger plants that way. Plus side is - they reseed like CRAZY. Never have to worry about replanting them! [there's about 20+ bushes currently in my garden that I didn't plant.]
Pretty shade-lovers/tolerators: Hosta, Astilbe, Ferns, Lily-of-the-Valley, Hellebores [my personal ♥], Creeping Jenny, Forget-me-nots, and lettuce! Lettuce doesn't mind a bit o' shade - will take longer to grow, but they're still pretty if you get a purple trout kind~
Flordia's southernmost point is Zone 9... So no, Georgia won't work either, hehe. And the winters' are too wet in the south for plants like that - they want a Mediterranean climate like California...
[I think I wanna move to California one o' these days... it's perfect out there for me...]

Hell - PROGRESSION garden journal! I have a four year old garden, your's is a first year! It'll be fun, mwahaha.
[And dammit, if you wanna talk I'm sitting on AIM. XD]
