How I'm spending my holiday season so far...

I've spent the past three mornings waiting for my car to be repaired. The problems were supposedly corrected each time; and yet each morning, the warning lights go flashing again, sending me back to the shop three times in a row. And guess what! They were unable to work on it today, so I get to go back again on Monday.

Anything bad you've heard about VWs and electrical issues is probably true.

Aside from that, I like my car a lot. But honestly? I'd be a lot happier if I could just walk/bike/bus everywhere I go.

So anyway. That's why this week has been a total suck.

The good news is that all this time spent sitting around has given me plenty of opportunities for leisure reading. I hope that my list of holiday reading illustrates my breadth of mind rather than my inability to focus on any one topic or genre:

• Lovely Me: The Life of Jacqueline Susann -- Barbara Seaman
• White Oleander -- Janet Fitch
• Vice -- Ai
• Crime and Punishment -- Fyodor Dostoevsky
• Lolita -- Vladimir Nabokov
• Every Night, Josephine! -- Jacqueline Susann
• Journey to Ixtlan -- Carlos Castaneda

I've also got a smattering of astrology texts strewn across the desk, and at work I've been listening to the unabridged audiobook of Peyton Place. We'll see how much of this I actually get around to reading. I've finished the first two and have dipped into a couple others.
