"The Birthday Project"

Jun 01, 2006 10:53

Houston people need to go to Traders' Village on Sunday the 18th and check this out:

Sheryl Oring is marking the President's 60th Birthday (July 6, 2006) with an interactive performance called "The Birthday Project." She will be setting up a portable "birthday party" in public spaces and inviting passers by to send George W. Bush a birthday wish. She will type their thoughts onto specially created birthday cards and then mail them to the President.

By presenting this work in public spaces, where she feels art is unexpected, she hopes to reach audiences that do not normally have an opportunity to interact with art or speak their mind.
