This afternoon we bought some lamb chops at the farmer's market. I've eaten lamb many times but never cooked it, so I was fearful of ruining an expensive cut of meat. (I am always this way when cooking something for the first time.)
The good news: I did a perfectly acceptable job cooking it. Nailed it at a moist medium, over charcoal. The disappointing news: I found it surprisingly bland. Not like the lamb I eat at Aladdin's, which is rich and strong and amazingly delicious. It's possible that their marinade vs mine makes a huge difference. But I'd be willing to bet that this was actually a pretty young lamb, and that Aladdin's gets older animals. This lamb was so mild, it put me in mind of veal, which I find bland enough to not bother eating.
Probably won't bother to buy and cook lamb again, unless I have reason to believe it's from an older animal with the flavor of real muscle tone in its meat. But at least I made it right!
