All my prior experience with gouramis led me to think them placid, peaceful fish. These two gold gouramis of mine are the feistiest, friskiest gouramis I have ever seen!
In other news, though, ich is still bad on the tetras - one of them jumped out of the tank last night, which while perhaps not a death directly caused by the parasites was almost certainly a stress reaction. Boo. I was trying a less harsh treatment (active ingredient naphthoquinone) which after five days has had no visible effect (in fact, I think they might be worse) so I switched to a chelated copper sulfate, even though it's gonna toast the snails and might also kill off the plants ... ecological balance isn't worth much if all your fish die from parasites, I guess. >:-P
