So I finally saw the book of Kells. Not sure if it is entirely worth the hype-and I LOVE books...but there was a line all the way out the door, then it was super crowded, pictures weren't allowed, and I couldn't even read it ;)
There was this rock though that had an old languange based upon parallel lines carved into it. I thought that was pretty cool.
I wandered over to the parliament building, but it was closed since this was the first day that the new government was going to start. For those not following Irish politics, although I'm sure you all are religiously, the Green party went into coalition with Fianna Fail, and some progressive Democrats. Not everyone was happy about this compromise so there were protestors outside:
Next I went to the National Museum, a house museum which showed life in Dublin in the 18th century, and the \Natural History musuem...this was different from other natural history museums because it hadn't been rearranged since victorian times-so it was kind of a museum of a museum:
I then wandered past the Molly Malone statue:
anyone know the song?
To the castle...which was closed due to the aforementioned state business. It was still cool to look at again...its funny
because it looks like a normal castle in front
and then is all funky colors in the back:
. "Business in front, party in the back"...like a mullet.
