We had a pretty strong thunderstorm last Tuesday and it knocked out the cable. I figured that it would ok and fixed the next day. No such luck (am I the only one with cable problems in a big apt. comlex??). I went through some troubleshooting with the people on the Comcast support chat, no change despite the "Magic signal" they supposedly sent through to fix it.
They won't be coming out to the apartment for 4 days. 4 days without cable? I'm such a TV person that I overlapped my services to avoid this type of thing. Some people smoke or have a drink first thing when waking up or before going to bed. I turn on the TV first thing in the morning and it is usually the last thing off.
This is why I had satellite for 5 years.
However, with me fitzing around in the cable "smart" panel, I found out that it is mainly degraded/weak signal. If I don't split it out, I get barely enough signal for one of the digital boxes to operate, but not enough for the guide to fill out. Better that than nothing at all.
