After having a day off yesterday why did I think today’s shows would run smoothly?
Turns out every man and his dog has heard about the show and how great it is so online sales have gone through the roof in the last 24 hours.
Don’t get me wrong I know it pays the bills but I just wish someone had called and let me know how crazy it was so I could come in early.
So I print up all the tix to be collected and of course there is well over 100 and people are banging on the door while I fight the snake that is the un- separated tickets trying to work out what the hell to do and oh yeah WHERE THE HELL ARE THE VOLUNTEERS!
Panic sets in, blood pressure rises and I completely forget that I love my job and the eccentric people I get to meet and totally want to pick up my bag and leave. FOREVER.
Then a couple of kids that are regulars here come by and I bribe them with free tix to an upcoming show if they help me out. The goodness they say yes and the crisis is averted.
5 mins to show time (yes that’s right 5 mins) one of the volunteers turns up with some lame arse excuse that I just role my eyes at and tell her if she can come back at 5 that would be great. I don’t have the energy to be a bitch today… but then again we do have another show tonight!
