Despite my deadline on Sunday, I'm feeling a little anxious about writing new words on Black Ghost (part of the reason being I keep poking big, fat holes in my plot), but since I need to do something productive, I returned to my thesis:
Project: Entanglement (SFR)
Chapters Edited: 5 out of 73
Things Accomplished in Real Life: pretty much nothing. I took a walk around the neighborhood today since I was bad on Wednesday and didn't jump on the elliptical. Other than that, it's been a rather quiet week, and I'm looking forward to the weekend. Oh! I did finish reading Ursula K. Le Guin's short story collection
Unlocking the Air.
Things Accomplished in Fiction: I've not looked at this in a while, and the last time I looked, I wasn't too happy. However, that unhappiness made me approach a reader I know who, should I ever get the thesis published, pretty much is the epitome of my target audience, and she's agreed to read this draft. So I'm line-editing to clean up various changes I've made since I turned in the thesis draft, and will not make any MAJOR changes until I receive her feedback. OH! I've also started a list so that I don't forget what terms are capitalized, which ones aren't, etc. This will be useful, especially if there's any huge length of time in which I don't look at the draft (which I won't do, because you won't let me, right?).
Reason for Stopping: Bedtime will always be an excuse, but I'm giving myself a goal of five chapters per sitting (how nice would it be if I did five chapters a day?) so that I don't burn myself out on reading so much at one time (and then get cynical, and then start hating the prose, and therefore accomplishing nothing). If I do five chapters per sitting, it'll take me a round fourteen sittings to complete, so I really, really need to do five chapters per day. So yeah, remind me! Keep me on my toes, people!
