15 miles can suck my ass!!!

Apr 15, 2006 14:30

This was by far the most painful run yet and my ass walked more this time then the last 4 runs combined!!! I'm not sure what it was. I injured my foot last weekend so to rest it I was using the bikes at the gym for 45 min or my most dreaded rowing machine instead of bouncing all my weight down on my foot. I don't think that is the best way to prepare for a 15 mile run the upcoming saturday - so lesson learned there. Another thing I did differently was have the mindset of 8min on 2min off for the whole 15 miles. This FUCKED UP my typical mental preparations. Instead of grinning and going "YES" every time I hit a 1/2 or full mile while jogging the ENTIRE TIME I instead couldn't wait for the 8 minutes to be up so I could walk. Also not a good idea for next time. I'm good with finding my pace and sticking to it like a sometimes well oiled machine so throwing in some walking and going by time instead of distance doesn't work for me at all -- glad I learned this at 15 miles and not at our 20! ha

I DID wake up at 5:15am to start w/ the hydrating routine pre work out and made sure I took in enough carbs and protein so by way of fatigue, that I didn't feel, it was just my legs never really wanted to work. It felt like I hadn't run in a week! oh wait... I hadn't! heh Oh and Sleepy Time from Tylenol is THE SHIT! I took it at 7:30 last night, ate a little dinner and was OUT by around 9 and able to get out of bed w/o being groggy at all at 5:15. Amazing for my ass - it really is!

as much as i hurt right now i'm already thinking towards the end and sad this will soon be over. There is the Nike Woman's Marathon in October, which is in Frisco, so I may look into that and actually train to DO WELL, not just to finish. Who am I kidding? if I can get up at 5:15am I need to get my ass back on the water and ROW! I had the biggest grin on my face as we circled around greenlake and I heard the Greenlake girl practicing their starts. Talking to Katy last night got me extremely excited too - not only that it is close to the time where I can start to train again but that a good friend will now understand the love I have of that sport.

ahhh - good stuff. So i'm fresh out of the shower, in sweats and a hoodie and feel awesome! Not sure what the rest of the weekend has in store. My room and bathroom has been a disaster since... ummm.. wow, since I dated tab. Haven't felt the motivation to make it look presentable at all so I think i should change this bad routine. I totally spaced until yesterday that THIS weekend was easter weekend - I picked the wrong weekend to see my parents dammit! Everyone has family plans I've talked to thus far so cleaning and movies and maybe making some waffles w/ the waffle iron my sister got me sounds quite lovely.

I'm so boring these days and you know what... I love it!

Oh yeah.. DON'T FORGET TO SUPPORT ME IN MY QUEST TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE STROKE ASSOCIATION AND COMPLETE THIS MARATHON!!!! please =)
