Oh the evil! Did you know that Emma Bunton, former Baby Spice, went and did a solo album? Gheee! Ok, to most this is probably reason to cringe and make faces and possibly vomiting sounds, but, I confess, I love the Spice Girls. Immensely. Enough to actually own a copy of Spice World and the soundtrack and a burn of their first cd, a ton of remixes, half of Gerri Haliwell's solo (hideous) cd and all of the tracks on a Sporty Spice ep. Disgusting, no? Yes. And what did I title this burn? 'A Fist Full of Spice', of course. Disgusting, I know. Anyway, my favorite Spice Girl was always Baby Spice, not because I thought she was the best looking or anything, just that (don't laugh) I liked her voice. Of all of them, I liked her singing best, and that's maybe not saying *much*, but whatever. For cheesy pop music it works. Anyway, I saw she had a solo cd last I was at the BeastBuy and decided I should hunt down some of it online... gah, its cute. Its fluffy. Its so, soooo pop. I love it. Damn damn damn! My mom's computer plays music just fine but does NOT have a cd burner program. Hmph. Shall have to correct that, I think, lest I am forced to pay money for her cd, pah! Good lord, I almost like it as much as la Kylie, and you know how I like me some Kylie Minogue! Yeah, its messed up, I know.
Stephen thinks its funny. I was SOOOO going off about Otep the other day. They're going to be hopping from San Fransisco to Seattle and Spokane and completely ignoring Portland altogether. I can't say I blame them, but damn! I'd LOVE to go see them! I was disheartened, all the bands I'd want to see never come here. Otep is my favorite, favorite thing in the world some days. Makes Slipknot look like a bunch of sissies, and Otep is fronted by a girl, I gotta like that. Hard noisy stuff that falls (alas) into that nu-metal category though they're so much better than the title warrants. Anyway, they're hard. I had this burn playing in the van and Stephen was like 'man, you're so hardcore', and I'm like 'huh?' and he says 'you listen to the loudest shit i have ever heard'. Stephen is an EMO boy, egads, so scary. I laughed and told him I couldn't help it, I had to balance out my disco cravings with something a little more meaty, funny words coming from a vegeterian. See that, even my musical tastes are mercurial, its fitting. Its so hard to find HARD HARD girl bands, they're kind of invisible. Or maybe just nonexistent mostly.
So what did I listen to at work all day? Toxic, by Britney Spears. I love it, I'm ashamed to admit. Ok, there were some Kidneythieves intermingled throughout the day, but mostly it was dance-fluff disco-core house music to keep me from going on a killing spree. It's been a rough work week, let me tell you.
sad news-- i ran over a nutria on the way home tonight. i couldn't help it, i rounded a corner and it was RIGHT THERE. had i swerved, i would have gone off the embankment and fallen twenty feet into a pasture full of cows. how upsetting.
