A look back at 2009

This year has been straight-up terrible for so many people, and it’s had it’s bad moments for me as well. Years that end in 9 have typically not been good ones for me. And since I’m now at an age where I’m starting to seriously think about things like retirement, wills/living wills, life insurance rates, and bucket lists? Well….I’ve seen several! But overall, I can’t complain too much. At all, really. I truly did have some of the best times of my life this year, and here are a few of them (not in any particular order):

1. Bonding with my teenage sons over such awesome movies like Sex Drive, Pineapple Express, Fired Up, and my personal favorite movie this year, The Hangover. I know there have been others, but that’ll do for now.

2. Seeing two of my favorite movies of the year with friends: Twilight….AND New Moon!

3. So many great retro/vintage finds. Not just dishes this year! There’s been more handbags, furniture, and an awesome light fixture, too! (hm. Haven’t gotten around to posting a pic of that yet. Remind me to do that sometime in ‘10)

4. Visiting family and friends….although the visits were always way too short.

5. I tried running for the first time. I did it for a total of four weeks. I really should have started back by now.

6. This was the year that I got to be a part of so many awesome new websites! We all have big plans for ‘10, so more details will come about those when the time is right.

7. I became the owner of an Amazon Kindle 2. I fell instantly in love with it, and STILL love it!

8. I became a Mama to three more furry friends…..two of them, April and Buddy, are still here. Pretty Boy either left for greener pastures or got picked up by animal control, as he was still a bit anti-human and never would let us get close enough to put him on a run.

9. Took my sons for a fun-filled day to Six Flags, where we enjoyed the sweltering heat, biting flies, burning sun, over-priced carnival-type food, and ROLLER COASTERS!

10. Helping out with, and attending, so many roller derby bouts! I may be gone for now….but I WILL be back! And I still love love LOVE it! Thanks to all the derby bouts and concerts I’ve attended, I now have a decent-sized t-shirt collection that isn’t full of rips and/or bleached-out spots.

11. Ooooh, the concerts. Not many this year. In fact, shamefully few. But? The ones I got to see where AH-MAZ-ING! And for the first time ever, I went to two of them all by myself! I’m such a big girl now!

12. I stepped out of my comfort zone of working just part time during the week, and opened my schedule. It’s been the decision I have made, job-wise.

13. I got to meet Hank III! And that was THE most exciting of all the good things that happened this year.
