One of the best decisions I ever made

was to ditch our land line several years ago in favor of going all wireless. We simply didn’t use our home phone enough to warrant the cost of the line. And that has been one decision I’ve never regrettted. I didn’t come out so cheaply the first year, since I only opted for a one year contract. But after having wonderful service and being pleased with my phone the first year, when that contract was up, I opted for the two-year contract. I’ve been able to keep costs down really low by never going over minutes -in fact, I buy WAY more minutes than I ever use, and way more texts, too. But it’s cheaper in the long run to have too many than to not have enough and go over! And I always buy handsets that are being phased out, so that they end up being free. I know that puts me with last season’s phone, but I really don’t mind not having the latest and greatest gadget.

While it’s true that if I had had ANY money at all to spend on a new handset when I got my most recent phone, I would have spent some and gotten a newer one. But I didn’t, and I honestly can’t say I’m disappointed in the phone I do have (the LG Chocolate slide phone, if you’re wondering. Probably totally obsolete by now.). One of the things I love the most about it is that it is a music player. It will hold up to 4GB worth of songs, which, I am finding, is plenty. With the purchase of a $3 adapter, I am able to plug the phone directly into my car’s stereo-out outlet and truly use it as a music player. I hate trying to fiddle with it while driving, since that’s dangerous, and the touch buttons are uber-sensitive. But I can create playlists directly on the phone….create a playlist with a few songs, set it to shuffle, and I am good to go, and surprised at what comes on. And I can delete the playlist when I am tired of it. I guess it’s much like the way you could do things with your Zunes or ipods or whatnot.

But the thing I like best of all? I have all that I need in one tiny little package that I take with me wherever I go!
