October is here!

Yay! Because of Halloween, it’s definitely my favorite month of the year. I love the warm, balmy days, and crisp, cool air of the evenings, the new seasons of my favorite fall television shows, my kids’ football and basketball games, a month’s worth of scary movies and Halloween specials, etc, and nesting in preparation for the coming winter. There are butterflies and caterpillars all over my yard!

Did you know that October is also National Breast Cancer Awareness Month? This disease still kills too many of our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, and friends. For the past several years, bloggers have come together to raise money for Breast Cancer Research via the Blogger Boobie-Thon. They’re now into their sixth consecutive year, and have started this year’s ‘thon out with a bang! Their goal this year is $10,000.00, and we have until the 8th of October to help them meet that goal. Let’s get to it! What do you say?

One of my best friends, Kat, has worked tirelessly for the Boobie-Thon for the past five years by submitting her ‘girls’ (psssttt….you can, too!), and this will also be her third year working as a photo editor. I created this banner for Kat’s Breast Cancer Awareness skin over at her site, and here is a screencap:

Clicking the screencap will take you to Kat’s site, but I don’t think the ‘Pink for October’ skin is the default setting. You can see it in action here. Let me know what you think if you get a chance!

Also, I gussied up my own lil blog for the month of October. Since I didn’t feel like creating two different themes, I combined Halloween with Breast Cancer Awareness (link for those of you reading via feed reader) in my new header. I opted for header only this time because: a) I couldn’t find the right stuff for a background; and: b) this way, I only have to replace the header at the end of the month.
