Latest thrifty finds

Yesterday, I went back for the lamps blogged about in this post, but opted to pass on the tables.

The man-owner told me earlier in the week that he’d take $45 for the set of four, and I really didn’t want all of the tables, nor did I want to split the set up. Since then, the woman-owner had gone in and marked them at $65 for three of the pieces: the two end tables I wanted, and the coffee table. I considered buying them, but I’d still have been stuck with the coffee table I didn’t want.

I visited the indoor flea market again today, where I saw the exact same pieces for $130 for only the end tables. Now I am tempted to go offer the woman-owner of the antique store $65 for the end tables and tell her to keep the coffee table. I think she underpriced them, but regardless, she can make more money that way, and if they’re still there when I can afford to spend that, then that is what I’ll do.

Okay, here’s the goods:

Thrifted lamps, which will be used as bedside lamps once I find the perfect shades for them (photo of only one of the pair)…

2 @ $10 apiece. Local antique/junk store. It’s not lopsided the photo just looks that way. I took this before I brought it inside, because I knew it would be a while before I could get them set up in our boudoir. They’re more orange than red like I had originally thought, but I think they’re fabulous anyway and will still work quite well!

Vintage serving bowl…

…This may be my favorite find of the day, since I’ve never seen this pattern before. $1.00. St. Vincent de Paul. Creamy white w/gold accents around rim; aqua, pink, and black floral design. Unidentified pattern.

Small platter…

…or maybe this is my favorite find of the day; since I’ve never really seen anything like it. $2.00. St. Vincent de Paul. Blue w/white flowers; feels like ironstone dinnerware. Unidentified pattern. Possibly vintage; not too sure.

Seems pretty meager, but I scored big time earlier in the week, so it’s not so bad.

I can’t wait till I get paid again. If I can afford it (hours are cut severely next week) I plan on hitting every thrift, antique, and junk store I can find within 30 minutes of here!
