The world now spins again!

As many of you know, Halo 3 was released at midnight on the 25th. My oldest son, who has been looking forward to this revered event for months on end now, was just beside himself with anticipation. He had already prepaid for the game entirely; all that was left to do was pick it up. He and his brother sat down to watch the Halo 3 countdown and launch party and all that good stuff on G4. It wasn’t long before they began literally begging me to go stand in line so that I could get it at midnight. There was no FREAKING way I was going to do that, and they tried really, really hard to change my mind with kindness. They did finally give up, just a millisecond away from when I was going to cave and go wait with the game-freak masses just to get away from them!

The next (Tuesday) morning after dropping the boys off at school, I headed straight for EB Games to pick the game up. I had no idea they’d be closed; I figured they’d still be going strong from the night before. So, I had an hour and a half to kill before they opened. I went to two thrift stores, and grabbed some more vintage dishes with the change in the bottom of my purse:

Taylorstone ‘Cathay’ plate:

$0.50. It is chipped, has some crazing, and some blight/blemishes and discolorations, so it’s not usable as far as eating off it. But I LOVE the pattern, and it will be more than good enough for a candle garden or something.

Homer Laughlin ‘Green Field’ saucer:

$0.25. I hope the black marks come off at some point. It seems to be a little better after being washed once. There was a price sticker on it, then someone marked through it with permanent marker and wasn’t careful not to write on the dish, too.

These two as yet unidentified patterns:

2 @ $0.25.

Pyrex coffee cup:

$0.25.

Came home with the game, then it was time to go do all the various errand-running associated with my husband. Since we had to renew tags, that took a bit longer than usual. After I dropped my husband off at home, I couldn’t help myself. I went thrifting AGAIN. I went to my favorite store, but they didn’t have anything I wanted. Then I went to this little junk/antique shop and found some vintage bakeware and vinyl LPs I just had to have:

Anchor Hocking/Fire King 1 & 1/2 qt ‘Meadow Green’ casserole dish:

$5.00. No lid.

The Steve Miller Band - The Joker:

Not too crazy about the Steve Miller Band. But the cover was awesome! Condition of cover: The ass end of fair.

AC/DC - Powerage:

Condition of cover: Pretty good.

Alice Cooper - Love it to Death:

I looked this up online and didn’t see this exact same album cover, but I guess it could be a later reissue or something. Condition of cover: Not in the best of shape :/

Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies:

I LOVE this one! Condition of cover: Decent. But the billion dollar bill on the inside is pristine:

$3.00 apiece.

And, since my son is a huge Jimi Hendrix fan, a promotional poster for South Saturn Delta:

$1.00. Condition: Fair, I think. Certainly not vintage, but it’s an album-shaped piece of art featuring a musical legend, so it’s all good!

But that’s not all! I found some furniture pieces I plan to get when I get paid Friday. The first is a four piece set of antique living room tables, two of which I’ll be using as bedside tables in my bedroom. And two really goth-tastic table lamps which I’ll use as bedside lamps! He offered me all the stuff for an insanely cheap price, but I still didn’t want to drop over $20 that day (and my purchases already came to $19) when I hadn’t even bought groceries yet. Also, I needed to think on the tables some more. I really need to be looking at dining room furniture right now instead of more living room and bedroom furniture. I really should have gone ahead and gotten the lamps, but, like I said, I was nervous about dropping a pretty big chunk of $$ when I still needed to buy groceries and gas. If they’re all still there when I get paid Friday, those babies are coming home with me, though!

The cleanse…I promised I’d update. I’ve quit for now. We all know I seriously lack willpower and commitment to bettering myself, so I am sure this is no surprise. However, there is a lot to consider when starting this regimen. TMI ALERT!!! Mainly making sure you are able to be near a toilet due to your ‘eliminations’. /TMI. I haven’t completely given up, but it’
s been impossible do while working my retail job and dealing with twice the driving and errands and unscheduled activity than I am used to. But hopefully all this lawyer-y crap is over now.

I have tomorrow through next Wednesday off from work. Surely that is sufficient time to get my body used to what it will do, how often, and when, before I have to go back. I still have my ingredients, and have been eating better and less. Who knows where this will go? I just can’t even guess at this point.

And that’s what I’ve been up to.
