I am tired, but I have the day off. I totally forgot about daylight savings time this weekend, but luckily everything in the house does all its own changing except for one manual clock, which is now at the correct time because I never changed it back in the fall.

It’s been a busy weekend. Saturday we went out to the movies. The oldest and I saw 300. Ohhhhh, my! I loved this movie so much! The youngest went to see Norbit and said it was hilarious, and that he loved it. His movie was over before ours, so he spent a bit of time in the arcade section, and won himself a digital video/regular/web cam/media player. I just love going to Rave theaters. They’re not any more expensive than the other theaters here in town, but much cleaner than some. There is one place here in town that when you sit down in the seats, the smell of everyone’s ass from the last 30 or so years wafts up. Ew. Would it hurt them to steam clean their upholstery every now and then?

The youngest and I have been practicing throwing the baseball out in the back yard. And I am not half bad! Not only that, but my arms are getting in such better shape. This typical Dad stuff is fun, y’all!

It was also a good weekend for tv, as I watched Blood Ties; a made-for-tv doomsday movie called Earth Storm; some documentary on Satanism which was really boring; and then watched Countdown to Doomsday on MSNBC. I really love these doomsday movies and documentaries, even though the documentaries are just scary as hell. One thing I have always wondered about these shows after watching is: why do experts think that if there is life on other planets, it is more advanced than our human race? Sure, it’s possible, especially if another race from some other planet detected our existence, then fashioned a means to invade our planet. But also, just think of the technology we have. We could probably detect other earth-like planets and visit (or invade), too, with enough funding to make it possible. I feel that if other beings exist, they could be smarter or more advanced….but they could also be more primitive.

Also, I priced some materials for a few different projects this weekend:
~roofing materials to fix our shed roof: not bad (top priority, since it’s a repair)
~materials for enclosed patio area: steep, but possibly doable. Or at least ’start’-able this spring. (more to come on this later, as it’s my top ‘project’ priority)
~flooring for living room, kitchen, and dining room: not bad. I will be saving/working toward this AS SOON as I have our shed re-roofed and the patio started. The boys’ rooms will be cheaper and easier to do, but the carpet in their rooms is also a lot easier and less time-consuming to keep steam cleaned. So I am redoing the floors in the main area of the house first.
~replace stove: hopefully soon after the floors are redone.
~flooring for boys room: each can be done with a paycheck, or both, with a good one.
~materials for storm shelter: astronomical (to me). I won’t be able to get this finished this year, but I do plan on buying 3-5 cinderblocks per week as a rule, then more when I can. It’ll be VERY slow-going, but hopefully I can finish it with next year’s income tax return. I know I won’t be able to get it done before then. And the only reason this isn’t a top priority is because we already have a storm shelter we can go to if we need to in the meantime.

And Oh! the projects I still have planned for the future: Gravel driveway and parking pad out back. Eventually cover the parking pad and have a carport. Separate carport for the project cars. Workshop. Extend and cover front porch. Cover and enclose back porch (so we’ll have a bigger utility/mudroom. Extend enclosed patio area in back. Why can’t I just have the money to do it all at once?
