Dear Anais (still the coolest name around!):

You caught me! I'd originally drafted this thing as part of a "billet douce" to someone I possibly shouldn't name. Ack! It's harmless enough, but I should have caught the tell-tale reference!

BTW sorry to be out of touch so long, my sweet. I trust you and Alan are still having wonderful times there in The Big Apple.

Life is spectacularly awful these days -- the goddamned virus is taking a terrible toll, and that asshole Trump totally fucked up the needed preparations for it! (Pissibly at the bidding of Putin ?)

Why-oh-why couldn't the Republican jerk-offs have convicted the bastard back in January??

This amazing and dynamic country deserves so much better -- but the Goetterdaemerung that likely faces us in the post-pandemic, post-recession world! OMFG! And the Russians and Chinese gleefully waiting to pounce...
