Rainy Sunday in Washington

Jun 09, 2019 18:58

We had hoped for better weather today, but it was heavy cloud all morning, turning to steady rain from 11:00 onwards.

We nonetheless kept a brunch date in Alexandria, enjoying a King St. restaurant new to us called "The Warehouse" (which it probably had been in previous centuries). Food and service were great. Our sweet girlfriend had tried it before, and was pleased that it remains so good.

Came back home, more rain, and I settled into watching the Canadian Grand Prix on TV. It was excellent, a duel between Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton (who leads in the championship points a third of the way through racing season).

I mention that only because the race ending was controversial: Vettel was penalized by the race "stewards" (judges) for a forced maneuver that kept Hamilton from passing him. The decision was to add five seconds to Vettel's time, putting Hamilton ahead. (In effect giving him the win...)

Bad feelings all around...
