The Lady Chablis passes, not yet 60...

http://ultradevi.tumblr.com/post/150151447292/must-check-on-her A nice shot of a cultural icon who passed away this week. She became a symbol of the decadent southern city of Savannah in the early-90s novel by John Behrendt, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." She portrayed herself in an exquisite 1997 film from the book, directed by no less than Clint Eastwood.

I read the book in the mid-90s, having got to know the city about then. Ironically, I drove through there just yesterday afternoon, coming up I-95 from Florida to Washington (getting here this afternoon). I didn't know she had died until a few minutes ago, when by chance I saw the above pose. It had been reblogged by a tumblr called "acceptableinthe1980s" -- and I captioned it "must check on her," wondering if something had happened.
