just before grandma

just before grandma, a photo by unexpectedtales on Flickr.

Well, "unexpectedtales" here changes tactics altogether: the title, for starters, just sings to me! Grandma's coming for a visit; Grand-daughter is eager, but her late-teen cool complicates her thoughts. Is my hair right? Earrings? What do I say about having a -- gulp! -- girlfriend? (No, sorry, that's ME, or my projection, anyway! My Grandmas died when I was just a kid; I never was in a situation of "coming out" to them -- or even to my mom, for that matter.)

But those doubts about WHO the heck she IS, and how to stake out whatever claim she wants to make -- well, that's common enough (even if some flee any revelations... or even a "meet 'n greet" in a restaurant). Anyway, I'm not sure of the gender of "unexpectedtales" -- "she" would make sense, as she recalls her own "stage fright" when it comes to relatives. Actually, it WOULD be cool to create a parallel portrait with a late-teen guy; it'd probably be an even more FRAUGHT scene than this one!

Once more, let me mention my odd personal game with tags: I rediscovered my old LJ list, frozen at -- I think -- 200 for non-paying members like me. They're all from 2010-11, but often seem to have a subliminal message. So "remarkable story" it perhaps is, but we won't learn it -- so we use our imaginations. On the other hand, "self-esteem" may or may not be in play -- but it's worth wondering... And NOW, if you are curious, you can click on whichever one grabs YOU and see when I first used it.

young/cute, self-esteem, remarkable story, the girl
