All Alone -- NOT!

All Alone, a photo by This will do on Flickr.
A Ferrari 458 in a garage in China (probably), photographed by my Flickr friend Chen. A beautiful, evocative shot that reminds me just what a shrinking world we live upon these days!

Chen works in China -- Shanghai, I think. He does exquisite photos of exotic cars there. It reminds me that contemporary China has become a phenomenal place -- with little change in the subconscious worldview of most of us outside.

Sure, you pick up an Economist magazine -- indeed, almost ANY issue of it! -- and there's another article on the staggering growth there. Now we blithely take it for granted. But it was literally unimaginable 25 years ago when I was learning about foreign trade and finance.

Nonetheless, how many of us outside of China really relate to these huge changes? Just take the microcosm of exotic cars, something I've always enjoyed -- the country is now the largest importer of such unusual vehicles in the world! A couple of decades ago, there wasn't a single Ferrari there!

Just a provocative thought to kick off your work week!

Once again referring to that "game" involving LJ's list of old tags I fashioned years ago, I enjoy finding oddly relevant ones among the several hundred there. In this post, "car-sex" stands out. In part because I didn't create any for "exotic cars" or even "cars" -- though I think an occasional shot crept in back then, among the naked ladies. So "car-sex" it is! I can live with that...

change, car-sex, revolution, remarkable story
