Racism is behind Tea Party attitude to Obama

Oct 01, 2013 17:37

Many of us have suspected that small-minded Tea Party folk simply hate that we have a black President. Not to say that's their ONLY motive, but it does account for much of their gut-level rejection* of Obama's programs and priorities.

Anyhow, leave it to the political scientists to PROVE what everyone else already presumed to account for political realities. Seems an Emory University professor, Alan Abramowitz in a new book, did "multivariate
analysis" proving that, after conservative ideology per se, "racial resentment and dislike of Obama" is the most important predictor of someone becoming a Tea Party supporter.

He concludes: "These results clearly show that the rise of the Tea Party was a direct result of racial and ideological polarization of the American electorate. The Tea Party drew very disproportionately from Republican identifiers who were white, conservative and VERY UPSET ABOUT THE PRESENCE OF A BLACK MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE... "(CAPS mine!)

* as I pointed out in the preceding post regarding Obamacare, diehard opponents reject it EVEN THOUGH it's based on Republican politicos' proposals to use private insurance as the vehicle for helping those without medical care. It was both sad and hilarious to watch Romney franticly distance himself from his own creation of "Romneycare" in Massachusetts.

creepy, sarah palin, wacky, black
