and the band played on...

here i am bloggin on my one night off this week. Behold what a fascinating life I do lead I must declare...

did Overtime today, which meant another early start and trek down the hill into work. but it was only one theatre running so the eight of us were more than happy to crack on with the two cases on the list.
and i admit it is fun working outside the remit of the normal theatre environment.
when i say that i mean we still work IN theatres, it's just there is no management pestering us, no phone calls from reps every ten minutes trying to peddle us equipment, no stress from managers (who have NO frontline experience) trying to push more cases on already groaning operating lists.
instead there is just the pure clinical clarity of task. we come in - we set up - we do two cases - we go home when they are done and we are cleaned down - the end.

that doesn't happen on usual, weekly working days. we'd be forced to stay on and kill time doing menial tasks to please the taskmasters (aka Band 7 Nurses).
Instead I got to walk home in the sunshine at 4pm, in grey tagged shorts, cons and a football jersey (Greene #91).
my rationale for this is that it currently isn't shorts-wearing weather just yet, but it's close. and i am SOOOOOOOOO pleased i can leave my heavy parka in the closet for a few weeks. i feel like i've been living in that thing!

working, overtime, scrubbing, sunshine, positive musing, friendship
