what's worse than being stuck on the late-shift with a heavy list?
Being stuck on the late-shift with nothing to do. Compounded by the fact that the senior nurse in charge chose me to replace a member of the late-crew who went home sick. so instead leaving before 8.30pm by taking some nicely accumulated time-owing I'm instead stuck in this theatre-of-hell until 9.30pm with, so far, not a lot to do except the usual routine to lay up for tomorrow's operating lists.
See? This is where working for the NHS gets you, contract inflexibility and sporadic working hours, but hey.. least we get a rock-solid pension by the end of it.
Errr... well maybe.
However, that aside today's been ok. And the weekend was very nice. For the first time over my holiday I had the entirety of Saturday to myself. I got up easy, worked out, wrote (well, tried to write - suffering a massive NFL-related writer's block at the moment) caught up on my Alphas, Walking Dead and Leverage and managed to sleep for almost 13 hours on the saturday night (life of the party I am at the moment!) waking on Sunday with a head muggier than when I do hit the Bacardi.
And they say sleep is good for you..
Oh, and NEVER forget that certain desserts may contain certain ingredients not usually associated with desserts. In my case the fact that cheesecake contains cheese.
I had my last slice of the homemade one I baked yesterday evening - ridiculous considering I'm trying to lose weight before Friday night - and suffered some of the worst dreams I've had in recent times. Think Resident Evil only the zombies had formed an uneasy alliance with the Alien brood. It was great in my head last night.
Well I better go and do something.
scrubbing,
work,
boredom
