and you know nothing of zone-blitzing so let's not throw stones eh?

I've just returned from the dentist.
He reckons I have something approaching the need for root-canal surgery in one of my top teeth. It is uber painful in the wind/cold and it is understandable when he says it's probably a good thing to have the nerve of the tooth removed if the situation worsens.

What he couldn't believe is that I'd never heard of Root Canal Surgery.
He had the incredulous look on his face which bordered on contempt as he explained the process to me. I understand where he's coming from but still..

The other thing is that he still has "Gender Identity Disorder" up on his patient details. And he still asks me every time if I've changed my meds between appointments.

The reason why he knows is that when I relocated to bristol in 2006 and found a dentist it's common practice to ask if you are on any medications that could affect teeth. And HRT/Zolodex does in theory due to the weakening of the bones (osteoporosis, same in teeth as in bones).
I said yes, he said why.
I, being stupid and uneasy and scared (and pre-op) said "well, it's because..."

and while he is my dentist and has been for over 4 years now i don't think he's still easy about it. He is from sub-saharan Africa so I don't know what the cultural/religious stance is concerning the TS population. I can't believe it's a positive one in that part of the world.
But he's in the UK now, I know this. But people can't change who they are. And if he has a problem with me I'd rather go somewhere else.

I can't exactly change dentists within the practice. Even if I could it might reek of racism. And given the status of NHS dentists in our area, is it worth losing one when the chances of finding another are slim?
Best to stick with the abuse.

Y'know, what with the Daily Fascist (nee Mail) and their "Tube death woman really a man" approach, the results that this Oct 2010 Minority Law could bring about and the fact that my birth certificate isn't worth the paper it's printed on I am feeling decidedly unwelcome in my own country.

Or it could be work related stress.

I leave history to decide.
