Easter is soon upon us and I thought I'd let everyone know that I'm entering some of my photos in the North Bristol exhibition this year.
This is kinda of a combination of things. A nudge from my tutor and friend who's got so much in common with me we're thinking of opening an opium den in Kingswood, where we just hang around all languid-like in vintage lingerie and drink absinthe and get high for a large proportion of the day.
If anyone wants to be a salon girl let me know!
And help from my brother, who I already asked could he print some of my pieces up to 8 x 6 size. He said no problem back then and this was back in January.
Combine these two events (synchronicity?) and I've contacted the head of the North Bristol NHS Art division who's said my work would be considered for exhibition and I thought 'fuck it, what can it hurt?'
Even if my work is not exhibited ("I'm sorry, it isn't what we're looking for") I don't care because the 3 photos I've decided to put forward are all my favorites, who speak to me and 2 of them I was going to use as art work on my own walls.
The 3rd I will mail to my best friend in Brighton. She's in the photo, sitting on Brighton Beach (in UK not NYC) and it's a lovely picture.
The good thing is that my brother is not only printing them but he's framing them on canvas. There is a reason to this. The framing specs on the brief meant that any size around the 660 x 800 would cost an absolute fortune in framing. Likely around £45+ per frame. For 3 pictures. And that's not including the money I owe my brother. Yes he's family but he's also doing this in his work time so I do expect to compensate him in one capacity or another.
So canvas frames. This means that it will extremely unlikely any of them will be bought. I'm only putting 2 of the 3 up for sale anyway and that was never the reason behind showing them in the first place.
So yeah...
I'm (hopefully, fingers crossed) going to be displaying some of my own artwork.
Never thought this day would come to pass.
