Ok, it's official, Dollhouse got marched round behind the chemical sheds a little over 48 hours ago and received a .38 slug to the back of its head courtesy of the FOX network.
I admit I'm more than a little depressed at this. I know it's not the best show on the planet, but after watching all 5 seasons of The Wire back-to-back I can except nothing is going to be as thorough as a Patapsko wire-tap or Omar and his trusty 12-gauge. Still, this show had a fantastic concept that has never been done before and proving that innovation was ITV4 who had just picked up the first season to broadcast (although it's not on this week as UK Darts takes precedence apparently) at a 9pm Monday slot.
Not A-grade but understandably respectable.
Plus it stars Faith off Buffy and with Whedon regulars Alan Tyruk and Summer Glau making semi-regular appearances we know we should be into something of substance.
Right?
Apparently not.
Instead we'll now have 20+ episodes of network darling FlashFoward to contend with along with Heroes (now in season... who cares) and Lost (don't get me started).
I think it's some kind of sad US teevee conspiracy.
We have the NCIS', the CSI's, the aforementioned "20-something" dramas and reality television.
Oh, and the USA remake of Being Human. Can't wait for the accents on that one.
I'm just bitter guys, I fully admit this. Friends gets 10 seasons worth of shows and Dollhouse can't make it to season 2.
Firefly never made it to the end of season 1!!!!!
I proclaim, nothing can make you feel more alienated in the world around you if the telly you're into/relate to/dig is constantly being scragged before its time. But then I work with people who worship the X-Factor/Strictly../etc, so it's even worse to not only see this constantly being advertised on television but then come into work to get away from the dross and be subjected to conversations about the very stuff you're trying to avoid.
You can't win.
Kinda like Dollhouse in the end I guess.
And I've only seen the first 6 episodes so far.
My favorite is Gray Hour.
and the line of that episode is now paraphrased in my life "Never try and second-guess the surgeon.. and wear comfy shoes".
Amen.
