Well, this past Sabbath I lead songs for the first time since the day before Pentecost. I had been scheduled subsequent times after that, but I was either out of town, or out cold.
Mr. Thompson gave a sermon about what's going on the middle east. He also made a few remarks about the Roman Catholic church, which was kind of funny, and here's why.
After services, I had to go my former supervisor's wedding, which just happened to be at a Catholic church. Having been to a Catholic funeral, I joked that there probably wouldn't be much difference between that and the wedding; which was less of a joke about Catholicism than it was about weddings. I'll write more about the wedding when I have time.
After the wedding, I joined Kevin, Matt J, and Jennifer, who were all at Kevin's place playing Monopoly. When they finished, we started a new game. I was the top hat. It was literally my first time playing Monopoly, which apparently brought my nationality into question. I never secured a monopoly of my own, but I had certain properties that Matt and Kevin wanted, so I enjoyed depriving them. In turn, they both enjoyed driving me out of the game with their monopolies with houses and hotels that charged outrageous fees. Jennifer was eliminated eventually, which left Matt, and Kevin. There were times where it seemed that Kevin was going to go under, but he stayed in the game. Eventually, I dozed off watching them. Jennifer left before they were finished. The game ended at 10:12 pm, after starting at around 6:30. Matt won.
After they finished, Matt ordered pizza. He called several different Pizza Huts. Each of them kept referring him to another because they didn't deliver to Kevin's residential area. Eventually, he found one that did. He gave them Kevin's number, and the Pizza Hut had his number listed on their computer as belonging to a strip club! Didn't see that one coming. Now, there are a couple of strip malls on that street(rimshot please?), but as far as I know, they don't have the kind of ...........establishment ....that Pizza Hut was talking about.
After we ate, Kevin introduced Matt to a game called Shattered Union, the plot of which isn't entirely out of the realm of possibilities. I stayed long enough to watch Matt go through his first two campaigns, then I got bored, as well as sleepy, and went home. All in all, it was a good Sabbath, and evening. I enjoyed being able to visit with the above mentioned people in addition to fellowshiping at church services.
