About 20-25 miles or so WNW of the city proper. It's right at the junction of I-290 and I-90 actually. (I can practically see that junction from our office. :) )

Chicago is a LARGE city, it's truly hard to give a real estimate. From the edge (which is just east of O'Hare) I'd say it's about 20 to 40 minutes truly depending on traffic, weather and moon phase.
Yeah, I figured there was some black magic involved in that calculation. I have a friend of a friend who might be looking for employment in the area. I don't know his specialties, only that he graduated with an MS in CS.
Gotcha. Can't hurt to refer him to this post and see if he thinks it is what he is interested in. If he's interested in something more like what I do (software engineering/development), have him drop me a line and I'll see if I can set him up with a recruiter. I have a couple I'm in contact with.
