last night, trivia night.
some of my co-workers assemble every thursday at Mad Dog in the Fog's Pub in the lower Haight for trivia night. last night was my first and as i bolt out the door in a futile attempt to catch the 19, this amazingly gorgeous, stunning, adjectives-just-don't-do-it incredibly beautiful girl calls to me from the sidewalk. i understood what she said, but i was just so knocked out of my orbit, i had to say "i'm sorry?"
"where you goin' in such a hurry?", she repeated with the most mischevous, devilish eyes i think have ever looked upon me. the strange thing was, she looked young and too innocent to be thinking whatever thoughts were charging those eyes. trust me, she was no prostitue. at least, she was not dressed like one, in blue jeans and warm coat. so i'm still kind of shocked, but i collect myself because i know i need to respond, and what the fuuck do i say?
"trivia night!" in the dorkiest voice i've ever heard myself use.
after a nanosecond contemplating what i've just said, i force myself from throwing up by snorting out a desparate high-pitched laugh.
and then i scuttle off before i can improve upon the embarassment.
seriously, what the fuck is wrong with me?
as i was walking to the station, i thought, "maybe i should have asked her to come with me..."
strange, because at the bar i was far less of a social retard.
trivia was a lot of fun, and somehow i am a lot of good at it...when the categories are actually something other than geographical, or obscure french impressionist painters who liked to chew their toenails. we still didn't win, but it was a lot of fun and coming down to the haight and just walking around in general made me so happy to be living here.
