There's another home football game tomorrow night, yay!
gonadsandstrife thinks football is stupid.
I will grant him this: some football FANS are stupid. As are some of the people who sell unlicensed merchandise to those fans.
I have a season ticket to the OSU football games. Oklahoma State University. The OSU Cowboys. Our mascot is Pistol Pete. He's a rootin', tootin' cowboy based on a REAL cowboy named Frank Eaton. When we score a touchdown, our other mascot, a horse named Bullet ridden by a cowboy (or cowgirl) wearing an orange vest and waving a big OSU flag, comes charging out of the end zone and rides in a big loop around the field and back. Yee haw! (Shut up, I LOVE Bullet!) Anyway, the whole "cowboy" theme is really, uh, overemphasized. Cowboy this, cowboy that.
Before, during, and after the games, whoever runs the PA system also plays clips of every song ever written having to do with cowboys, including the Toby Keith song "Should've Been A Cowboy". (Incidentally, that's the only Toby Keith song that doesn't make me want to vomit or kick someone in the nuts.)
At the first game this season,
lawpeeps and I were waiting in line to pick up our tickets (for-fucking-EVER in 100 degree heat arrrrrrrrrgh). We had plenty of time to observe our surroundings (other people), and there were some real doozies. The guy behind us in line was wearing an orange t-shirt with an unintentionally humorous slogan.
It said, "Should of been a Cowboy".
Doh!
