Four years ago today the fuckin' Freedom Bird dropped my ass in the Middle East.

my last journal entry before the deployment, and
here is the post I made when I found out I was deploying three weeks (to the day) earlier.
Photos
A much skinnier, well into the process of becoming jaded and faded, me. This photo, I believe, is a favorite of
lester22's, which is why I include it. Here's
a link to my favorite photo, and one to
the rest of my public OIF gallery.
The War That Never Ends
I was at the
Wisconsin Veterans Museum today, right across from the Capitol here in Madison. I was attending a private exhibit of some of the museum's Vietnam collection as a part of the America in Vietnam: Music, Mayhem and Media course I'm taking this semester. After the exhibition finished I talked to the curator about donating some items from my Iraq tour. They're planning on opening an exhibit at the museum this time next year, and they really want to get as many items as possible for the OEF/OIF collection. They're also going to be doing videotaped oral histories and vet-on-vet interviews, and I was invited to participate in that. Looks like I'll be spending part of my spring break going through correspondence, photos, uniform items, etc. and figuring out what I'll be donating to the museum. I'm really excited to have the opportunity to contribute something to the documentation of such a personal and life-altering experience.
