Connie Rubirosa: *Connie's outside of Hogan Place, on the phone, leaning against a pillar, with her police detail close by. Normally she might pace while talking, today she just leans, tired and a bit morose* I understand. I just--we still have to try. *quieter* I'll see you when you get here. *hangs up*
Alex Eames: *Alex is walking upwards, just arriving, spots Connie out the corner of her eye and goes over to her, trying to catch her attention so she doesn't make her jump*
Connie Rubirosa: *sees her, just as she looks up after pocketing her cell phone* Hey.
Alex Eames: *a little smile* Hey. How're you?
Connie Rubirosa: Long day.
Connie Rubirosa: You?
Alex Eames: Long day, too. *nods*
Connie Rubirosa: I should be getting inside....*looks warily down the Hogan Place steps and at the busy street below.*
Alex Eames: *nods* Okay. *moves to go inside with Connie*
Alex Eames: *instinctively taking a look around*
Connie Rubirosa: *goes with Alex, the detail following*
Connie Rubirosa: *goes inside, through security and in the direction of the Homicide wing*
Alex Eames: *walking alongside her* How's your case going?
Connie Rubirosa: Falling apart pretty spectacularly, actually.
Alex Eames: *concerned frown* What happened?
Connie Rubirosa: Rafa -- the kid we got to flip -- changed his story on the stand today. We went to visit him at Rikers....*shakes her head* He's not budging.
Alex Eames: They got to him then. *small sigh*
Connie Rubirosa: Yeah, they did. *quiet* I can only imagine the number of things they threatened him with....And.....I understand that--but--
Alex Eames: *nods* Yeah. If only he could see he would be better off sticking with the truth... *supportive smile* So, I guess you'll be spending this evening trying to figure out where to go from here?
Connie Rubirosa: Pretty much....Michael's stopped off to talk to Jack--who's at some city event--and then he's gonna bring us takeout for our night at the office.
Alex Eames: *nods, little smile* I hope you're able to think of something... if anyone can, it's you guys. *in her best supportive way*
Connie Rubirosa: Thanks...*they get to her office, which she unlocks and goes into*
Alex Eames: *goes in, too* How are you finding the police detail? Does it help at all?
Connie Rubirosa: ...I've started to get a little used to it, yeah.
Connie Rubirosa: ....if our case falls apart because Rafa's gone quiet on us....then I'm out of hot water.
Alex Eames: I think I know you well enough to know that you'd still want your case to pull through. *smiles*
Connie Rubirosa: *sits at her desk, doesn't answer*
Alex Eames: *it wasn't a question so Alex sits down* How's Michael doing?
Connie Rubirosa: *shrugs* He's fine.
Alex Eames: *nods* Good. *already knows the answer to how she's doing so doesn't bother bringing it up*
Connie Rubirosa: *nods* We had a good weekend in. *smallest of smirks*
Alex Eames: *quietly, with a little smirk back, being oh so light and still supportive* A good weekend in is sometimes the best way to roll.
Connie Rubirosa: *nods*
Alex Eames: *smiles* I've always liked the extra excuse to cook real food. *nods*
Connie Rubirosa: *laughs a little*
Alex Eames: Or, you know, burn the kitchen. Whichever comes first.
Connie Rubirosa: *smirk* I'm a good cook.
Alex Eames: I can cook! I get distracted... *smirks back*
Connie Rubirosa: Uh-huh.
Alex Eames: Yeah, yeah, I do.
Alex Eames: *serious nod*
Connie Rubirosa: *little laugh*
Alex Eames: When Ellie is old enough, I'm sure she'll remind me.
Connie Rubirosa: How come you were around Hogan Place, anyway?
Alex Eames: David has been around here with an IAB investigation so I said I would meet him here because I wanted to just see how you were doing.
Connie Rubirosa: Oh?
Alex Eames: *nods*
Alex Eames: Yeah, he's doing some trial prep.
Connie Rubirosa: Fun.
Alex Eames: He wouldn't agree.
Connie Rubirosa: *chuckles* I'm sure.
Alex Eames: *smiles* I should probably go find him... you know what he's like. If you need anything, you know where I am.
Connie Rubirosa: Right...well...thanks for going out of your way to find me.
Alex Eames: If you need me to hang out till Michael gets here, I can?
Connie Rubirosa: It's all right. I've got papers to go over. *sighs*
Alex Eames: *sympathetic smile* Fun.
Connie Rubirosa: I just...wanted to shake the kid, Alex.
Connie Rubirosa: Tell him, they threatened me, too. Because of you, they turned my life upside down and now you're just giving in? *pause* But that would've been cruel.
Alex Eames: *nods* I know. I would, too if I were in your shoes. Hell, I do in my own shoes. *small sigh* We all just react differently to things like that... and I don't think it would've been cruel, I just don't know if he would've really reacted to it.
Connie Rubirosa: It would've been cruel because...how can I expect him not to want to live his life or protect his family?
Alex Eames: *nods* I guess it depends on things. I wouldn't see it as cruel because it would just be opening his eyes and giving him the big picture. I guess I just believe that you can protect your family by doing what's right... but, like I said, I can see why he would react differently.
Connie Rubirosa: If they're threatening to harm his family...*shakes her head* A teenage boy isn't going to see doing the right thing as going ahead and further putting them in danger.
Connie Rubirosa: Frankly, a lot of adults wouldn't see it that way either.
Alex Eames: I know, which is why I would try to give him the big picture. *nods* I don't know a lot of adults who have, actually. *sighs, shakes her head* It's what these people count on -- fear. *internally wondering why she's starting to sound like her partner*
Alex Eames: *sad smile*
Connie Rubirosa: *nods*
Alex Eames: *shakes her head, thinking about it* I hope the kid will be okay, too.
Connie Rubirosa: Me, too.
Alex Eames: *nods*
Connie Rubirosa: ...I just want this whole thing to be over with, one way or the other.
Alex Eames: *nods with understanding* The sooner, the better. *wants it to be over for her sake, too* *supportive smile*
Connie Rubirosa: *nods*
Alex Eames: Let me know what happens?
Connie Rubirosa: Of course I will.
Alex Eames: *smiles* Okay, good. *nods* Call me if you need to talk, okay?
Connie Rubirosa: I will. Thanks.
Alex Eames: You're welcome. *supportive smile, goes to the door*
Alex Eames: *gives Connie a wave and a smile as she goes, once outside, David is there and he comments that "Women must lose track of time when talking because he's been there HOURS"*
