with dresdenk9cop

*Wednesday afternoon, 4th of July, finds Dresden sitting at his desk, still in his full uniform after working the parade- only thing he's gotten around to doing is unbuttoning the jacket, with a grunt he swings his feet up on the desk and leans back in his chair*
*Eames is working on the holiday, not wanting to take any time away from trying to solve the current MCS case. At her desk, she sighs, realising she needs some files and walks over to the cabinet, passing Dresden along the way*

[Alex Eames] *looks at his uniform* Hey, you worked the parade?
[David Dresden] Yes. Yes I did. Apparently someone's idea of a joke.
[David Dresden] *idly twirls his cap in one hand*
[Alex Eames] *smirks, watching his cap for a second* Its tough having the short straw. I'm glad it wasn't me.
[David Dresden] Nothing like wearing wool on a July afternoon

[Alex Eames] *grins* Yeah, it sounds like fun. *is kinda admiring the uniform*
[David Dresden] Doesn't help I sweat like a pig... *re-thinks that* Nevermind.
[David Dresden] *doesn't really notice her admiring the uniform*
[Alex Eames] *chuckles; pulls a grimacing face* I didn't need to know that.
[David Dresden] *smirks* Sexy, right?
[David Dresden] *smells the inside of his cap and crings*
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* Are you asking me if I think that a sweating pig is sexy? You should already know the answer to that.
[David Dresden] No. No it is not.
[David Dresden] Not by a looooong shot.
[Alex Eames] Nope. *smirks* It's definitely a turn-off.

[David Dresden] *turns his hat over in his hands, studying it, mumbles* Sad.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles at him, is amused*
[Alex Eames] *quickly adds as an after thought* Without sweat though... *shrugs*
[David Dresden] *looks up at her* Yeah, over, splat, dead. *sets down his cap* Don't care to try for that again in this lifetime.
[Alex Eames] *smiles* Probably not a good idea... you're here all day?
[David Dresden] Of course. I have nothing better to do and the Brass know it.

[David Dresden] You?
[Alex Eames] *shrugs* Mostly. I was gonna be looking after my nephew but apparently his parents cancelled their plans so I decided to stay here and do paperwork. *is obviously disappointed about that*
[Alex Eames] *shrugs* I'm losing sleep the longer this case drags on

[David Dresden] Sorry to hear that.,

[Alex Eames] It's okay. I'll hopefully see him Sunday.
[David Dresden] *nods*
[Alex Eames] *suddenly looks like she's remembering something*... hows your hangover?
[David Dresden] *laughs* Which one?
[Alex Eames] *smirks* Well I meant todays unless you've not recovered from Mondays.
[David Dresden] How'd ya know I was nursing one?
[Alex Eames] *grins* I spoke to Megan earlier... she mentioned you and a bar.
[David Dresden] *laughs* Gotcha.
[David Dresden] My favorite place to frequent.
[Alex Eames] I've noticed *smirks*

[Alex Eames] She actually said nice things about you, which is completely different to what I've been hearing

[David Dresden] She must have been very drunk.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles; sarcastic* That must be it.
[David Dresden] Or the alcohol. Who knows?
[David Dresden] *picks up cap again* We could play catch.
[Alex Eames] *frowns, looks down at the cap and then starts laughing* I take it you're bored?
[Alex Eames] Besides, if we start playing catch, I'll win.
[David Dresden] What makes you say that?
[David Dresden] *tosses the cap to himself a few times*
[Alex Eames] Because I used to play catch alot with my brothers.
[David Dresden] I ain't your brother.
[David Dresden] *thank god because otherwise this would be really weird*
[Alex Eames] *nods* That's very true. You're not. *is also relieved*
[David Dresden] Catch. *tosses the cap to her*

[Alex Eames] *catches it, surprised he actually tossed it at her but recovering enough to grip it*
[David Dresden] *chuckles*
[Alex Eames] *laughs* Fine. *tosses it back at him, aiming for his chest*
[David Dresden] *snaps it up* Nice throw. Ya know- for a girl.
[Alex Eames] *smirks, one hand on her hip* Really? Well, you're not such a bad throw yourself--for a guy.
[David Dresden] A true compliment.
[David Dresden] *tosses it back at her*
[Alex Eames] *catches it again--cannot believe they are playing catch in the squad room* You're welcome, it was meant to be one...
[David Dresden] Good..... cause, ya know, that's how I took it. *lame*

[Alex Eames] *chuckles at the lame* *smiles at him and quickly tosses it back*
[David Dresden] *catches it* So... How was your day yesterday. *tosses back*
[Alex Eames] *catches it again* Good. Once I sorted my partner out it got better. *throws it back at him* You?
[David Dresden] Sort him out? With what? A 2x4? *catches* Working on files... It was okay. *tosses back*

[Alex Eames] *catches it* *hesitates, fiddling with the cap* You, actually. *prepares to toss it at him* Seems he's taken a dislike to you *tosses it at him* Working on files sounds... boring.
[David Dresden] Him and everyone else. *catches* It was but that's my life.
[Alex Eames] Yes it is. I don't... *smiles a little* dislike you. I think I shut him up. *referring to Bobby*

[David Dresden] *sits there, slightly dazed* Right. *tosses it back*
[Alex Eames] *catches it* *smiles at him* Yeah. *quickly tosses it back at him*
[Alex Eames] I'm actually amazed he gave up so quickly.
[David Dresden] *is thrown off at the combination of her smiling at him and hearing that Goren had given up and ends up with a hat to the face*
[Alex Eames] *bursts out laughing*
[David Dresden] *leans over and snatches the cap up off the floor* Classy, huh?
[Alex Eames] *is dying of laughter*
[Alex Eames] Oh, yeah, with style *still laughing but trying to stifle it*

[David Dresden] *laughs as well, dusting off his cap* What did Goren give up on any ways? His chances with me? I told him no time and time again.
[Alex Eames] *smirks, still chuckling* I told him that you'd say no as well, but he was quite persistent. I think he got the message in the end.
[David Dresden] Good. I don't need him following me around like a puppy. I already have a dog.

[David Dresden] And I bet my dog doesn't eat as much.
[Alex Eames] *despite the fact its her partner, she chuckles* Well.... I wouldn't know how much he eats.
[David Dresden] *shrugs*
[David Dresden] He seems too high class for my budget any ways.
[Alex Eames] Oh? And what is your budget?
[David Dresden] Me and the dog.
[David Dresden] *bites back the urge to say 'and maybe one more'*
[Alex Eames] *is slightly disappointed but refuses to show it; just tries to smirk instead* That sounds like a restricting budget.

[David Dresden] Yeah well.... I, um, sometimes make exceptions
[David Dresden] *clears his throat*
[Alex Eames] *smiles, surprised to hear that* Really? *hears the way he clears his throat and a smirk appears* I'll, uh, try to keep that in mind.
[David Dresden] *waves it off and plops the cap back on his head in a hap-hazard manner*
[Alex Eames] *chuckles*
[David Dresden] *looks up and gives her a curious look*
[Alex Eames] *looks at him, matching his curious look* What?
[David Dresden] Wondered what was amusing, that's all.
[David Dresden] *doesn't realize how he must look*
[Alex Eames] *smirks* Well, that'd be the hat.
[David Dresden] Huh?
[Alex Eames] *grins* I've never seen anyone wear it quite like that. Suits you *smirks*

[David Dresden] Oh... Heh, yeah. *straightens it on his head* Well, this way just looks too... serious for me.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles and nods* Yeah... *studies him to see if thats true*
[David Dresden] *blinks*
[Alex Eames] Far too serious
[David Dresden] *cracks a smile*
[Alex Eames] *smiles for a moment at him and then suddenly realises she had to get files for her work* I-I should go and do... my job.
[David Dresden] Oh. Gotcha.

[Alex Eames] The sooner I do that the sooner I can go home... in theory *smiles at him again*
[David Dresden] *stares at her and then very nearly goes tumbling out of his chair*
[Alex Eames] *is surprised at the action but starts laughing at him*
[David Dresden] *catches himself before he ends up on the floor*
[Alex Eames] Are you okay?
[David Dresden] Yeah, yeah, yeah- fine.
[David Dresden] *shakes head and tries to drag his mind back out of the gutter*
[Alex Eames] *nods* Good.
[Alex Eames] *is completely oblivious to the gutter but is still admiring his uniform*

[David Dresden] *finally notices what she's admiring* It's sucks to wear but it makes most people look good.
[Alex Eames] *smirks* Not me. But that's true about... others.
[David Dresden] *is glad he has the cap on because he knows his ears are burning a little*

[David Dresden] Well, you're not getting the full effect with me slouching in it.
[David Dresden] *stands up before he can stop himself and actually buttons up the coat and puts on the cap right*
[David Dresden] Makes us look all dignified.
[Alex Eames] *tries not to show how much she likes the show and tell, but she smiles before she can stop herself* Nice. You look good. *inwardly groaning at herself for being obvious*
[David Dresden] Heh, thanks. Only time they can get me to shave is for these things. *turns around in the get-up to give her a proper view from all angles and then flops back down into his chair*

[Alex Eames] *definitely enjoyed that* *smirks* I guess if you have to shave for something, it might as well be for ... that. *gestures to his uniform*

[David Dresden] *unbuttons the coat again, tosses the cap back on his desk* S'pose.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles and starts towards that filing cabinet that she still hasn't reached; its not far from his desk*
[David Dresden] *watches her walk by and sighs, going back to his own work*
[Alex Eames] *gets the file she wants and walks passed him again* *stopping just to say* I don't suppose you'd want to go drinking in the weekend? *is asking purely from a drinking buddy point of view*
[Alex Eames] Unless you prefer your newer drinking buddy *big smirk*
[David Dresden] *frowns* Naw. I dance card has only got room enough for one. *pauses* As for the drink- when am I not up for one?
[Alex Eames] *laughs* Good, and true. I've noticed the bar is your second home.

[David Dresden] Yeah... I shoud work on that.
[David Dresden] Just cause... you know.... liver.
[David Dresden] *pokes at his stomach about where he thinks his liver is*
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* Well... would you be able to not go as often?
[David Dresden] S'pose I could try. *coughs* Might mean we'd have to stop being drinking buddies, though. *is thinking about what Wheeler had said*

[Alex Eames] *seriously considers this* I don't know... they serve soft drinks at bars. *smirks*
[David Dresden] We could drink club soda
[David Dresden] *grins*
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* Exactly.... I'm sure it'd be just as good...
[David Dresden] I might not be as much fun, though.
[Alex Eames] *smiles* Well, we best not do that then *smirks*
[David Dresden] *totally innocent and says it without thinking* Well, there are other ways to have fun,
[Alex Eames] *big smirk, totally catching a different meaning* I'll leave that one to you.
[David Dresden] Huh?
[Alex Eames] *shakes her head, amused* Never mind.

[Alex Eames] Of course there are other ways to have fun...
[Alex Eames] *nods and smirks*
[David Dresden] *tugs at the collar of his shirt feeling slightly warmer than before*
[Alex Eames] *sees his discomfort and points back to her desk; feeling slightly warm herself* Work... I best go before it doesn't get done at all. I'll... email you or something.
[David Dresden] Fine. Good.
[David Dresden] Later.
[Alex Eames] *smiles at him and turns away to walk back to her desk*

[David Dresden] *watches her go and then gathers up his courage* What you doin' after you finish all that?
[Alex Eames] *turns back to him* Nothing *smiles* Why?
[David Dresden] Um, well, maybe we could get that club soda after we get off work. Or whatever...
[Alex Eames] *big smile* That sounds like a good plan to me. *nods at him*
[David Dresden] *can't help looking a little relieved* Right.
[David Dresden] *looks down at himself* I should change outta this monkey suit before then though.
[David Dresden] Although it might be good for getting free drinks.
[David Dresden] I mean club sodas
[Alex Eames] *kinda wishes he didn't have to change out the suit* *smirks* Free drinks are always a bonus.
[Alex Eames] I mean... the club sodas
[David Dresden] Hmmm, I suppose... I could keep it on. Though....

[David Dresden] Hmm- what you think?
[Alex Eames] *looks at his suit and back at his face, clutching the files in her hand* Oh well, I think you should... uh, wear the suit. It saves you having to go home and change.
[David Dresden] *nods* Of course.
[David Dresden] Yeah...

[Alex Eames] Okay *smiles* I best get to work.... *starts back towards her desk*
[David Dresden] *nods, mumbles* Hurry up.
[David Dresden] *goes back to his work*
[Alex Eames] *hears him but doesn't turn around, smirking as she sits at her desk*
[David Dresden] *has a hard time concentrating on his work but some how manages it*
[Alex Eames] *manages to get quite alot of work done, considering how tired she's been and how much thinking she was doing*

[Alex Eames] *finishes her work and goes over to his desk after she's packed all her stuff away* You ready?
[David Dresden] Yeah... *has actually been ready for awhile but didn't want her to know that*

[David Dresden] *stands up and picks up his cap*
[Alex Eames] *smiles* Good.

[David Dresden] I always pick the bar.... you got any place new to try?
[Alex Eames] *smiles* I'm sure I can think of one.
[David Dresden] Good because I'm beat and I don't wanna think.
[David Dresden] *grins*
[David Dresden] And I'm still a little boozed up from the parade.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* Probably best that you don't think then.
[David Dresden] *nods* Yeah but it kept me from killing people at the parade. I figure that's a good thing.
[Alex Eames] *nods* Yes, unless you wanted to end up in Jail.
[David Dresden] Which means I wouldn't be here with you and that would be sad.
[Alex Eames] *without thinking* Yes, it would
[Alex Eames] *quickly carries on* Plus Jail isn't all that pleasant.
[David Dresden] *hurriedly* No. No it isn't.

[David Dresden] I don't need a girlfriend named Bubba.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* No? You don't think you and Bubba would be a good match? *big smirk*
[David Dresden] No, considering that despite what Falco thinks I like women not men.
[Alex Eames] *frowns* Falco thinks you like men?
[David Dresden] Long story and I don't remember half of it because I was drunk.
[David Dresden] Some how he got it into his head that I liked Goren.
[David Dresden] Again- don't know how.
[Alex Eames] *just looks at him, shocked* That's just... wrong
[David Dresden] That's what I said. *keeps walking out of the building* I told him that the only person I'd do in MCS would be you *hurriedly* as a process of elimination- I don't dig men and Wheeler's too young for me.

[David Dresden] I mean.
[David Dresden] Not that you're old.
[David Dresden] Er...
[David Dresden] *turns bright red* My, my is it warm in here.
[Alex Eames] *smirks as he stumbles over his words*
[Alex Eames] I can't be old, I haven't quite reached 40 yet *smirks at him, taking pleasure in his discomfort*
[David Dresden] Hooray, there's hope for me then. I'm not yet 40 so I'm not old either.

[Alex Eames] *grins* Good to know. *they walk out the grounds of 1pp and start down the streets*
[Alex Eames] You know... there are other women at Major Case....
[David Dresden] Yeah well... Whatever.
[David Dresden] *noncommital*
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* They just work in the background so you'd probably never notice them.
[David Dresden] I notice who I want to notice. *matter of factly*
[Alex Eames] *reaches a bar* Here.
[Alex Eames] I've noticed that you do that.
[David Dresden] *ducks into the bar* It's one of my charming attributes
[Alex Eames] *follows him in*

[David Dresden] Where ya wanna sit?
[Alex Eames] *points to the two empty seats that aren't quite at the bar but near to it, around a small table* That looks good *silently wondering why she's getting to do all the choosing*
[David Dresden] Right. *walks over and automatically walks over and pulls out a chair for her*
[Alex Eames] *looks at the chair and smiles; sitting down before he like changes his mind or something*
[Alex Eames] Thanks
[David Dresden] *grunts*
[David Dresden] *takes a seat in the other chair, looking a little out of place not being at the bar but at the same time grateful*

[Alex Eames] *chuckles*
[David Dresden] *eyes her* I amuse you?
[Alex Eames] We can go sit at the bar if you want...
[Alex Eames] and yes, you do.
[David Dresden] No. This is fine. *entirely possible he wants the slight privacy that the table affords* Good.
[Alex Eames] *nods* Good. So... how was the parade?
[David Dresden] Long, boring... Plenty of the major telling everyone how great we all our and how the fire department and the police are thje best in the world.
[David Dresden] Made me feel good until I realized where I ranked in things. *grins*

[Alex Eames] *laughs* Considering you're in the police I would think you rank very high. I'm glad I didn't go.
[David Dresden] *shakes his head* Being stuck with parade duty with the rookies is not my idea of fun.,
[David Dresden] *shrugs out of the uniform coat*
[Alex Eames] *smirks* No, me neither *tries not to watch him do that* I think I did parade duty once and ever since I always tried to avoid it.
[David Dresden] Yeah you don't have to dress all up. *loosens the tie at the neck of the white dress shirt that is on under the jacket, hangs the coat and the tie on the back of his chair*

[Alex Eames] *is desperately trying not to watch; suddenly feels thirsty*
[Alex Eames] Yeah *pause* Exactly. I hate my dress uniform
[David Dresden] I think most cops do until they enjoy punishment. *unbuttons the dress shirt and lets it hang open when a t-shirt underneath* I hate wool and the only way not to be itchy all day is by dressing in layers.
[Alex Eames] *silently admires the look* Yeah, me too. I don't enjoy punishment. *still trying not too look obvious at him*

*waitress comes over*
*she eyes Dresden quite obviously, Dresden doesn't notice*

[Alex Eames] *raises her eyebrows at the waitress with a smirk*
[Waitress] What would you... like to drink?
<
[David Dresden] *looks up at Alex* Whatever she's having.
[David Dresden] *is busy fussing with his shirt*
[Alex Eames] *smirks at the waitress* I'll have a vodka martini

[Waitress] *seems annoyed at not being noticed* Right. Two vodka martinis. *walks away*
[Alex Eames] *is happy she was annoyed but doesn't show it*
[David Dresden] Who was that again? *doesn't realize that was the waitress*
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* That was the waitress. You were too busy trying to sort yourself out. *referring to his shirt*
[David Dresden] Oh. Gotcha. *finally wrestles out of the shirt* There. T-Shirt and dress pants- quite a fashion statement.

[Alex Eames] *nods; wondering where that drink is* It's definitely a fashion statement.

*Waitress returns on cue and sets down the drinks, notices David but he's too busy, possibly admiring Alex*
*waitress leaves in a huff*

[Alex Eames] *takes a sip of her drink; glad it turned up*
[David Dresden] *takes a sip as well* Not bad.
[Alex Eames] *nods* Yeah, I like it. *smiles*
[Alex Eames] I'm sorry its not club soda though
[David Dresden] *shrugs* Don't worry. I'll get on the wagon tomorrow.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* Will you need to write that down before you get too drunk to remember it?
[David Dresden] I'll trust you to remind me in the morning. *totally oblivious to what that could be taken as meaning other than work in the morning*

[Alex Eames] *tries to ignore the other meaning* I'll, uh, leave you a note on your desk or something...
[David Dresden] Good.
[David Dresden] *sighs, content, looks over at her* This is a much better way to spend the evening than what I was planning.
[Alex Eames] Oh? *smiles* What were you planning to do?
[David Dresden] Sitting home and watching TV.
[David Dresden] Spending it... with someone is far more pleasant. *nervous laugh*
[David Dresden] *takes a long sip of his drink*
[Alex Eames] *smiles and nods* That's true. *can't help but notice that for someone who dislikes people he's now picking people over TV* I'm honored.
[David Dresden] Yeah... well... you should be. You're the only one I'd pick over TV.
[David Dresden] *coughs*

[Alex Eames] *smiles obviously complimented* Well, I usually don't sit watching TV.
[David Dresden] If you weren't stuck here with me where would you be? *sips his drink some more*
[Alex Eames] *takes a sip of her drink* Well, originally I would've been with my nephew but I'd probably have just either done some more work, read a book or gone to bed.
[David Dresden] *thinks of some other reasons to go to bed but manages to shove that aside- no need to be a brainless male* What happened with your nephew?
[Alex Eames] I think my sister came down with the flu so she's not having whatever romantic thing she'd planned with her husband. *she obviously had been looking forward to it* I like to spend time with him.
[David Dresden] Well... I'm sorry for her and for you with that,
[Alex Eames] *smiles* Thanks. *looks at him, hesitates for a second* It might sound odd but I just really love my nephew.
[David Dresden] *shrugs* Most people are close to their families.

[Alex Eames] *nods* True *thinks and then adds, trying to sound light* Most people don't give birth to their nephews.
[David Dresden] *nearly spits out his drink* What?
[David Dresden] I mean...
[Alex Eames] *can't help but be amused by his reaction* I was, um, a surrogate mother for my sister.
[David Dresden] Ohhhhhh okay- I was scared there for a moment
[Alex Eames] *laughs at his reaction* What were you thinking I meant?
[David Dresden] I was thinking you did the horizontal tango with your brother in law.
[David Dresden] That was a scary thing.
[Alex Eames] *snorts with laughter, trying to avoid imagery if possible* Hell, no.
[Alex Eames] *cringes* That... That is not ... No!
[David Dresden] Not your type?
[David Dresden] *laughs*

[Alex Eames] *shakes her head* No, my sisters type, not mine.
[David Dresden] *casual* So what is your type? *works on his drink*
[Alex Eames] *smirks at him, fiddles with the glass a little before taking a sip* Well, usually, somebody who is smart, witty and generally good looking *smirking*
[David Dresden] Hot damn I'm in... wait... smart? Shit... nevermind.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* You don't think you're smart?
[David Dresden] *shrugs*
[David Dresden] Why? You trrying to assess me?

[David Dresden] *hurriedly* For... something.
[David Dresden] Er..
[Alex Eames] *laughs; smirking, trying not to sound as if she is* You'd be lucky.
[David Dresden] Lucky?
[Alex Eames] *smirking* You'd be lucky if that was what I was doing...
[David Dresden] *gets out of his mouth before he can stop it* Yes I would
[Alex Eames] *can't quite believe she heard that*
[David Dresden] *gapes at her unable to think of how to cover that up*
[David Dresden] *downs the last of his drink*
[Alex Eames] *takes a sip of her own drink; thinking of something else to say to cover that up* Well... you know there are others things on the list.... *shrugs; realises it probably isn't working- feeling heartbeat quicken slightly*
[David Dresden] Yeah... Yeah...
[David Dresden] *runs a hand through his hair, nervously*

[Alex Eames] *looks down at her drink, and starts pulling her hair away from her face*
[David Dresden] *glances over at her and stares for a moment before realizing he's doing it and looks away* I need another drink.
[Alex Eames] *finishes hers* Yes, me too. Good idea.
[David Dresden] *flags down the waitress*
[David Dresden] *orders, ignore the waitress*
[David Dresden] *tugs at the collar of the t-shirt*
[Alex Eames] *notices that* Sorry. I may have bought the conversation to a complete standstill.
[David Dresden] No... I think that was more my doing.

[David Dresden] Besides- I'm pretty sure one of those other considerations on your list is someone who gets along with your friends.
[David Dresden] *laughs to himself*
[Alex Eames] *chuckles but shakes her head* Not really, no. I never thought of putting that on my list.
[David Dresden] *looks up, having the look of a hopeful puppy on his face for a moment*
[Alex Eames] *smiles at him, chuckling a little* I don't think I'll be adding it either since my list is already big enough.
[David Dresden] *clears his throat* Well... I'm glad to hear that. Something tells me Goren isn't going to like any suitor for you. He strikes me as a big brother type.
[Alex Eames] *laughs* He can be but usually I'll argue with every point he makes until he gives up.
[David Dresden] Good.
[David Dresden] *drinks come*
[David Dresden] *sips his*

[Alex Eames] *takes a drink from hers*
[David Dresden] I think everyone went to Munch's thing today. Explains why theere are no cops hanging out at the bars beside us.
[Alex Eames] *nods* Yeah, I think they did. You didn't want to go?
[David Dresden] Nah... not my thing.
[Alex Eames] *thinking its wise there are no cops around them*
[David Dresden] Too many.. people. Too much pressure to make stupid small talk.
[Alex Eames] *smiles* I can understand that.
[David Dresden] I have never liked talking for no good reason.
[David Dresden] Sure I talk a lot when I'm drunk but that's not something that I do sober.
[Alex Eames] You definitely talk when drunk *grins*

[David Dresden] Hopefiully it's not... pointless
[Alex Eames] *shakes her head, smiles* Nope, trust me, you've not been wasting your vocal chords.
[David Dresden] *makes the mistake or good fortune to meet her gaze* Yeah?
[Alex Eames] *maintains eye contact and still smiling* Yep.
[David Dresden] *definitely hears his heart pounding in his ears* Alex... I um...
[Alex Eames] *still looking at him* What?

[David Dresden] *was going to say something smart about asking how bad he smelled but instead leans down and kisses her*
[Alex Eames] *is taken back by it but doesn't stop him; nervously she kisses him back*
[David Dresden] *is surprised that she didn't freak out or something but is happy for it, holds it for a moment and carefully pulls away* I bet I smell great. *laughs, nervously*
[Alex Eames] *matches his laugh and unwillingly puts her hand to her mouth* I thought... *pause*... you smelled nice.

[David Dresden] Heh... thanks.... You, you smell really nice and... *realizes his lameness*
[Alex Eames] *big smile* Thanks. *is still like totally blown away that he kissed her*
[David Dresden] You're welcome. *innner thought- "Commenting on how she smells nice- weirdo"*
[Alex Eames] *smile turns into a grin* You kiss nice too *smirks*
[David Dresden] Yeah....... I didn't exactly plan that. I just.... did it.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* Best way to go about it...

[David Dresden] Yeah... I've found that to be true.
[David Dresden] I... *licks his lips, nervously*
[David Dresden] *realizes that the waitress from earlier is scowling at them*

[David Dresden] *raises the middle finger salute and grabs Alex, pulling her in for a proper kiss- one cause he wants to and two to piss the waitress off*
[Alex Eames] *lets him kiss her properly, putting her hands on his shoulders, not knowing quite what he's doing*
[David Dresden] *pulls away a little* Waitress bitch.... Seems to think I should be oogling her and her fake tits.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles, realising it finally clicked* Yeah, she was checking you out earlier.
[David Dresden] Oh really?

[Alex Eames] You really didn't notice?
[David Dresden] No.
[Alex Eames] *grins*
[David Dresden] I was a little preoccupied. *clears his throat*
[Alex Eames] *smirks* I'll bet.
[David Dresden] I, um, had my thoughts on someone far more worth my while. *looks away for a moment, shyly*
[Alex Eames] *soft happy smile* That's good to know. You should know that I only really noticed 'cause I was trying not to notice you... *pauses*. .. taking items of clothing off.

[David Dresden] *turns back to her, face burning* I wasn't doing that... I mean.. I
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* I know... *then adds, smirking* I think.
[David Dresden] Usually I don't notice... people.... but you're.... I like you, if you didn't already know that. So. Yeah.
[Alex Eames] *smiling* I... like you too.
[Alex Eames] *suddenly thinking she cannot believe she didn't notice*
[David Dresden] Right so... how many heart attacks is that going to be worth for Goren?

[Alex Eames] *laughs* I don't know. It doesn't matter, that'd be upto him.
[Alex Eames] *smirks* Probably one. And he'd get over it.
[David Dresden] Yeah well.... doesn't matter if he does or he doesn't... *leaves it to be assumed that he's not going any where regardless of what Goren thinks*
[Alex Eames] *big smile* Good. I'm glad you think that. *realises she's staring at him and starts to look down at her drink*
[David Dresden] Drink up...
[David Dresden] And tomorrow... on the wagon. We'll see if I can be nice... minus the booze.
[Alex Eames] *looks back up at him and smiles*
[David Dresden] I make no guarentess.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* I'll keep that in mind
[David Dresden] *looks disinterested* Yeah well.. I got a good enough reason to so whatever.
[Alex Eames] *can see right through his disinterest; stares at him, closes the gap between them and kisses him again*
[David Dresden] *is surprised but kisses her back*

[David Dresden] *pulls away after a moment or two and comtemplates the situation* This is going to be complicated... to put it lightly. *laughs softly*
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* Well, my life was never easy.
[David Dresden] *smirks* Yeah, well, true.... *pauses* So what do people do in situations like this?
[Alex Eames] *smirks, amused* Well, normally, people just go with it, date.... you know, we can sit here and carry on drinking and talking *pauses* and kissing.
[David Dresden] *chuckles* Nice addition there at the end.
[Alex Eames] *grins* I thought so.
[Alex Eames] *takes a sip of her drink, which is almost empty*
[David Dresden] *notes her drink*
[David Dresden] Do you really want to deal with that all night *points to waitress* being a bitch?

[Alex Eames] *turns to the waitress, kinda scowls at her and then turns back to David, smirking* Not really, no. I may end up poking her eyes out.
[David Dresden] *puts money on the table* Then let's get outta this dump.
[David Dresden] No tip.
[David Dresden] *smirks*
[Alex Eames] *chuckles, standing up* I agree. Lets go.
[David Dresden] *stands as well and waits for Alex to walk in front of him before following her out*
[Alex Eames] *does so and heads towards the exit*
[David Dresden] *holds door open and then they are out on the street* So...?
[Alex Eames] *looks at him* So...? *is wanting the rest of the question*
[David Dresden] Which way to walk?
[David Dresden] *smirks*
[Alex Eames] *smirks at him* Well, that would depend on where you wanna go... *is being purposely evasive*
[David Dresden] *is standing there, holding his dress jacket, dress shirt, and cap* Oh... um... heh... Well, mainly I wanna get rid of this shit *indicates the items in his arm* so I guess my place as wrong as that sounds so I can drop it off and then *shrugs* wherever.
[Alex Eames] *nods, smiles* Good idea *slightly disappointed about losing the uniform but wants him to be comfortable* So you need to the point the way *smirks*

[David Dresden] Very well. *turns right and starts walking*
[Alex Eames] *walks beside him with a smile on her face*
[David Dresden] I'm not too creative- I live near work. *nervous laugh*
[Alex Eames] Sounds practical *chuckles* I wish I'd thought of that...
[David Dresden] I can't take the credit for it. Ex's idea- her husband works for an apartment agency in Manhattan.

[Alex Eames] *nods* Still, it works and it's making it easier to reach now. That was nice of her, and him, to help you get a place...
[David Dresden] *shrugs* He wasn't a fan of the idea. She leaned on him. He gave in. Sarah was always good at getting what she wanted.
[David Dresden] My ex- that's Sarah.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* Her determination worked out for you *smiles* Does being in Manhattan mean you're closer to your daughter?

[David Dresden] *nods* That's why I'm here to begin with. That, and I wasn't real popular at work back in Chicago. Everybody knew my business.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* It's never good when everybody knows your business. Makes it more complicated to do your job.
[David Dresden] Exactly.
[David Dresden] That and you get people looking at you like... well ya got a hole in your head
[David Dresden] *laughs*
[Alex Eames] *smiles, hesitates before she asks* People, uh, treated you differently because of that?
[David Dresden] *shrugs* Not cause of that. But when someone gets shot and then is gone from work on 'medical leave' for over a year people talk.

[Alex Eames] Ah, well yeah, people do have a habit of talking. But you wouldn't have been cleared for duty if you weren't... *wants the right word* ... fit for duty.
[David Dresden] Still *comes to a stop in front of an old brick building and pulls out a set of keys* You wanna work with a guy who was clinically insane and institutionalized? *unlocks the outside door and let's them in* I don't care- all the legalities in the world wouldn't make someone feel at ease.
[Alex Eames] *smirks* It would depend on the guy.... *serious* I guess he'd have to earn my trust before I did.
[Alex Eames] *steps inside*
[David Dresden] *is about to head up a flight of stairs but stops and looks back at her, looking a little surprised* Right... Well, any ways, I got the chance to leave and I took it. *leads the way upstairs*

[Alex Eames] *follows him* I'm glad you did.
[David Dresden] *looks back over his shoulder* Heh, well, so am I. *reaches the first landing and heads off down the hallway, stops in front of a door, unlocks it and heads in*
[Alex Eames] *follows him inside*
[David Dresden] *inside is cluttered- books, magazines, dust* *on the table in the living room is his personal weapon that has been disessembled for cleaning* I'll be back in a minute. *heads off down a dark hallway to persumably his bedroom* Get off my bed! *Max comes tearing out of the room and into the living room, looking pleased with himself*
[Alex Eames] *looks around the room and chuckles as he tells off his dog* *watches Max as he comes rushing into the room*

[Max] *Max haults at seeing someone else in the apartment, cocks his head to one side*
[Alex Eames] *smirks at him; friendly voice* Hey, Max
[David Dresden] *from the bedroom* Don't mind him. I don't think he's ever seen anyone else in this apartment aside from me.
[Alex Eames] *laughs* This'll be an experience for him then
[David Dresden] Sure if you come home with me more often.
[Alex Eames] *is surprised to hear that, almost chokes*

[David Dresden] *from bedroom* You okay? *doesn't realize how bad that sounded*
[Alex Eames] *kinda hoarse voice* I'm fine.
[Alex Eames] *to Max* I hope that doesn't mean you feel all left out?
[Max] *cocks his head again and then takes off for the kitchen*
[Alex Eames] *laughs at him, can see her partner doing that with his head, and starts chuckling at the thought*

[David Dresden] *Dresden returns now dressed in a t-shirt and a pair of jeans* He needs walking... Um...
[Alex Eames] *looks at him, likes the new outfit almost as much as the uniform*
[Alex Eames] We can do that... if you want...
[David Dresden] Well, I can't think of anything else to do.
[David Dresden] Er... I mean.
[Alex Eames] *smirks at him*
[David Dresden] Yeah. Dog walking.
[Alex Eames] *nods* Yeah, lets walk the dog. I'd hate for you to come home to some kind of... mess.
[David Dresden] *snatches up the dog leash hanging from a hook by the door and clicks it onto Max's collar* Yeah... *he could think of far... better things to come home to*
[Alex Eames] *smiles* Okay. Ready to go?
[David Dresden] Yup.
[Alex Eames] *grins* Good.

[David Dresden] Com'on. *motions for her to lead the way out*
[Alex Eames] *opens the door and walks out, still holding it open for Max and David to walk through*
[David Dresden] *lets the dog take the lead out but pauses to lock back up*
[David Dresden] Onward mighty Max.
[Alex Eames] *laughs* Yes, let the dog lead the way. He probably knows where he's going anyway.
[David Dresden] Yes. Yes, he does.

[Max] *thump thump thump, down the stairs*

[David Dresden] He kinda forgot most of his training long time ago.
[Alex Eames] *smiles, watching Max charge down the stairs* Really? How long ago has it been since he was a working dog?
[David Dresden] About... ten years.
[David Dresden] My parting gift from CPD.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* Not a bad gift. You get a good friend out of it.
[David Dresden] Nope. *heads outside*
[Alex Eames] It could have been worse *shrugs; follows him outside* I mean, my father was forced into retirement so his parting gift wasn't so sweet.

[David Dresden] What happened?
[Alex Eames] *sighs* Have you heard of double dipping?
[David Dresden] Ouch.
[David Dresden] That, um, sucks.
[Alex Eames] Yeah, it was tough *shrugs* My dad tried to hide how much it pissed him off but it was obvious.
[David Dresden] Well... it is a nono
[Alex Eames] It is *nods* He had his reasons, I never really wanted to know what they were.
[David Dresden] *nods*
[David Dresden] *watches the dog go along*
[David Dresden] You got work tomorrow?
[Alex Eames] *looks up at him* Yeah, we've still got... that case. You?

[David Dresden] Of course. I'm the one doing the IAB work regarding the case that Logan requested.
[Alex Eames] Ah, he really doesn't like IAB, I'm still surprised he's the one who requested it. *smiles* How is that all coming?
[David Dresden] Slow.
[David Dresden] They stick me there so they can keep an eye on me
[Alex Eames] That's gotta suck.
[David Dresden] Oh yes. But *looks down at the dog* my lot in life- being IAB's bitch.
[Alex Eames] *smirks* That sounds... *pauses* ...interesting. *big grin* Maybe that will change
[David Dresden] I doubt it. I think if they can find a reason I'll be shipped back out to Staton Island. *laughs* I'm working to make sure they don't find a reason. I hate the commute.
[Alex Eames] Yeah, I hear the ferry can be rough. *chuckles* I hope they don't find a reason to send you there.
[David Dresden] *glances down at her* Yeah. I've grown rather attached to this place. *keeps the dog leash firmly in one hand and offers her his arm*

[Alex Eames] (01:33:13): *smiles and takes his offer, and holds his arm* I'm glad.

*Max looks back at them with a quizzical look*

[Alex Eames] *chuckles at the dog*
[David Dresden] *to the dog* And what are you looking at?
[Alex Eames] *laughs*
[David Dresden] *Max finally takes care of business, David, being the nice person he is actually cleans it up and then looks at Alex* I... um... should probably head back and get some sleep. *is fighting his lesser nature not to suggest things he shouldn't*
[Alex Eames] *smiles at him and nods* Yeah, I should... get home too. *pauses* I, um, had a good time.

[David Dresden] So did I...
[Alex Eames] *smile* Good... I'm glad.
[David Dresden] Yeah... *closes the distance between them and shocks the hell outta Max by getting his free arm around Alex's waist and pulling her into a kiss*
[Alex Eames] *is stunned but doesn't stop him; Alex loosely wraps her arms around him, and kisses him back*

[Max] *cocks head and stares like he's never seen this before.... which he hasn't*

[Alex Eames] *is completely oblivious to Max*
[David Dresden] *kind of wishes he didn't have his other arm tied up with the dog leash but is too busy with other matters to get too bent out of shape*
[Alex Eames] *slowly moves her head back a little and pulls away; is completely breathless*
[David Dresden] Heh...
[Alex Eames] *smiles* I... should let you go and get that sleep.
[David Dresden] Umm... well... Yeah get a shower- sleep. *preferably a cold shower right now*
[David Dresden] That kind of stuff.
[Alex Eames] *can't help but chuckle; nods* Yeah... *smile* So, I'll see you tomorrow at work or something?

[David Dresden] Sure, sure.... I'll see you tomorrow at work for sure. Um... you doing anything this weekend?
[Alex Eames] *shakes her head* No... You?
[David Dresden] Not at the moment... Wanna get dinner or something?
[Alex Eames] *big grin* Yes. I'd love to
[David Dresden] Good. Right then. *points back toward his apartment* I should go this way before I get any ideas.
[Alex Eames] *chuckles* Yeah... I'll let you do that *steps away and smiles* Night.
[David Dresden] Night.
[Alex Eames] *turns away and starts in a vague direction towards home*
[David Dresden] *heads back toward his apartment, Max looking confused the whole way*
