RP Moment | Changes
Alex was laying down, stretched out on the sofa. Her small height meant that she managed to have enough space without dangling her feet over the side. She had planned to use this quiet moment to have a little nap, but once she'd decided upon doing that, she'd been unable to sleep. She found that frustrating but all she could do was laugh about it- she certainly wouldn't be crying over it.
It would have been silent, if it hadn't been for the almost loud ticking of the clock that covered the sounds of breathing from her newborn daughter. Alex found those sounds comforting. She'd noticed that she had taken to sleeping with one ear open, always listening to every sound Ellie made. Something she assumed was normal.
Alex couldn't help but feel sorry for David, who was having to work as per usual, and still lose sleep throughout the night. Ellie began to stir, and as she did, she made it known with a small cry that she was waking up, which forced Alex out of her thoughts. She stretched and pulled herself upright. Carefully picking up the crying one and rocking her gently as she prepared to feed her.
Smiling down at Ellie, she thought (and not for the first time recently) how much things had changed. If somebody had told her a year ago that she'd be doing this right now, she'd have made some sarcastic comment about how insane that sounded. It had not been in her plans to have a baby but now that she was here, she couldn't imagine things any other way. "You'll do," she told Ellie, jokingly with a smile as she stroked her cheek, "you'll do."
