Lindsay drummed her fingers impatiently against the table, waiting for the DNA results to come up. It had been too much time. Too much time between Danny going missing now, and from what was indicated by Stella when she was processing the scene, there was a lot of blood. And lots of blood, especially when it came from a head wound, was never a good sign.
She shifted her weight on her feet slightly with a heavy sigh, continuing to drum her fingers when she heard the sound of someone clearing their throat behind her. She glanced up at Adam, who was standing across the table from her, working on other samples for other cases, and she gave him a sheepish smile, before pulling her hand off the table. “Sorry. Nervous energy.”
“It’s okay,” Adam said with a shrug, before going back to work. Lindsay just sighed, before sliding her hands into the pockets of her lab coat and waited, praying to whoever was listening that this blood, wasn’t the blood of the person they were assuming it to be. She was worried, and the worry was showing on her face, it always did-but there wasn’t really much she could do to hide that. Adam must have been picking up on it, because the next time she glanced over in his direction there was a small smile on his face. “We’re going to find him Lindsay.”
“Yeah,” Lindsay said with a sigh. “Just matters what kind of condition they find him in.”
“Don’t think like that,” Adam said, giving her a look, and she just glanced up at him before nodding slowly and fisting her lab coat through the pockets to keep her hands busy while she waited. A few minutes later, there was a beep! from one of the machines in the room, and her eyes snapped to attention as she waited for Adam to read her the results of the test. He read over the report for a minute, before he turned back to her and passed her the report. “It’s Danny’s.”
Lindsay sighed heavily before nodding and taking the paper from him with a half-hearted smile. “Thanks, Adam. I’ll go take this back to Mac.”
Adam nodded, and she started to walk out the door, before he spoke up behind her again. “We’re gonna find him, Lindsay. Alive. In one piece.”
Lindsay turned back to him for a moment, before nodding again. “I really hope you’re right, Adam.”
