worked yesterday night and tonight. made $137 and $131 respectively. rather small cashes, but since i was pretty card dead both nights, i'll take it. yesterday i only played 2.5 hours. i had intended to play 4 hrs, but about midway through i got caught in a bluff and got steamed up. it was a limped pot and i was bb with 5h3h. the flop came TdTh2d and i led out for $10 into a $20 pot. an early position limper called. she's a weak-tight player and i felt pretty certain she was on a draw. i intended to fire on any non-diamond turn. the turn was the 9h, giving me a flush draw, and i bet $20. she quickly called. now i was sure she was drawing. the river was the 8s and i fired out $35. after a moment of hesitation, she calls and rolls over 8h7h! i wanted to puke. it was a small pot, but it just got me really steamed. maybe i should have just taken a walk and cooled off, but i decided to call it a night. was i looking for a way out? maybe, but i think this was a reasonable bail.
tonight i intended to play from 1030pm to 2am, but skipped out at 1am when my table broke. i was very card dead. i stacked some donk early on when i raised on the button with QcJc and he called with 7d5d. the flop was a jack and two diamonds, we get all-in and my hand holds. i played pretty tight after that. i raised a small c-bet with the nut flush draw on an A hi flop in a raised pot and everyone folded. i stole limpers a couple of times. twice i turned straights only to be rivered by flushes, and i had QQ run into a donk's KK for $150. in one of my last hands of the night i flop a Q hi flush draw out of the bb in a limp pot and bet $15 into $20. i got two callers, one of whom was pretty tight, but i didn't feel there was a lot of strength out there. the turn was a jack, giving me a gutshot to go along with my flush draw. i had planned to fire again, and so i did, this time $45 into $60. the tight player went all-in for $82, and i of course called, expecting to see maybe aces up. he had JT for an open-ended straight draw and a turned pair of jacks. i caught a heart on the river to drag the pot. i got lucky, but i still feel pretty good about how i played the hand. in fact, my reads all night were excellent, and i stayed focused in pots i wasn't involved in. a few times i knew exactly what the other players held.
i know this is turning into sort of a poker journal. it's not by plan, it's just that most of my life is poker now, so naturally it will dominate any record of my activities. hopefully in the future there could be other things to log, but for now, this is it.
it's 330am, and it's actually pretty nice outside. i think i'll go for a walk, then maybe think about something to eat.
poker,
