Heian cosplay....

Taken today when Miki-san and I went to the city museum.

I only wish I didn't look so fat in these. >_<

This particular costume is what a single woman would have worn, or so they told me. It was HEAVY. I would guess at least 30 pounds... I know that it weighed more than my backpack and gear did at BOSS. Oo; Every layer of color you see here is indeed a separate layer... I think I counted about 11 of them in the end.

This is the clothing of a married woman. It is a bit lighter, and I think I liked how it looked better than the other outfit, with the little haori-type jacket over it. Meanwhile, Miki-san puzzled over how women used the loo in these getups. ^^; Compared to this, navigating a toilet with piles of renaissance-style skirts is laughably easy, I must say.

These four women with us are the dressers. These poor women were crawling all over my person while they were getting me dressed. ^^;; They look very serious here but they were giggling all over themselves the entire time. One even took pictures of me with her own cell phone. ^^;;;

This museum is having another event like this in May, I think, with full samurai armor. How cool is that?? *_* I might drag Miki-san there again because I have always wanted to try on a big, manly set of samurai gear. >_<;;

japan, yay, costuming, cosplay
