August 1 to August 7 (barring Sunday, August 6) was my week long Fall Intersession course, IS 4503 - Management Information Systems, at Langston University - Tulsa. In other words, it's a computer related course. Taking this class was monumental for two reasons: 1.) this is the first time I've ever taken a 4000 level college course; previously, the highest I've taken was a 2000 level course, and 2.) this is the first time since the 2002-2003 school year at the University of Oklahoma that I've worked towards a Bachelor's degree.
For those who wish to learn about my not-so-proud academic life since high school, I'll refer everyone to my first post I made in my journals.
Anyway, when I went to my advisor at Langston-Tulsa (who also happened to be teaching the course) a few months back, he suggested that I take a week off from work so I'll have plenty of time to study. In retrospect, that seemed like a very good idea, because I don't live on my own, and I could always ask my mom for money.
However, for those who know me, I don't like asking other people for money, because why should I ask for money when I have a paying job? Besides, if I didn't work, I wouldn't get as much money on my paycheck as I would've when I worked. Needless to say, against my advisor's advice, I didn't request off for the entire week.
Well, the exams in the course were on Thursday, Saturday, and Monday. In addition, we also had a two to three page research paper based upon some aspect of recent technology. Also, we have a group project that needed to be done and presented by Monday. As time went on during the class, I thought to myself that I should've taken the week off.
Anyway, I did manage to pass my Management Information Systems class with a "C." Honestly, while I think I could've done better, I (and the instructor) was actually impressed that I managed to take and pass the class while still working at the same time. Depending on whether I feel like it or not, I may or may not take another Intersession course, but only time will tell.
Ciao for now!
