Scene Name: Frankenstein's Monster (and I'm not talking about the monster...*pokes Butch*)
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Couple/Characters involved: Demyx and Cloud
Short Summary: Cloud investigates the mansion's library and ends up meeting Demyx...
Cloud had shown himself around the house, running into a few of the other occupants, but didn't really start up a conversation. He was far too shy for such things. Instead, he took up residence for the day in the library, which he was impressed by the amount of decent books the producers of the show happened to collect.
Demyx was, to put it lightly, bored out of his skull. He was currently wandering around the house, wearing a tank top and pajama pants, trying to find something that would keep him entertained. He paused by the library door when he caught site of a head of blonde hair he didn't know. He had thought that he and Roxas were the only blondes in the house.
Cloud was looking through the books on the shelves, frowning lightly in thought, trying to remember if he had read one particular title he had come across.
Demyx hesitated for a few moments, watching the other carefully before walking into the library. He sat down in one of the chairs, making sure he would be seen by the other blonde when he turned around.
After deciding if he couldn’t remember if he had read the book or not that he should just read it anyway because if he had read it be obviously didn’t remember it, Cloud turned around, his eyes immediately falling on the other blond in the room, whom he didn’t even hear enter, “Oh! I didn’t know anyone else was in here.”
Demyx just shrugged as he smiled at him. "I wasn't in here until about two minutes ago. Just thought I'd come sit in the quiet, maybe find a book to amuse me."
“Don’t let me stop you.” Cloud replied with a small smile, “I’m Cloud, by the way, I just arrived yesterday.”
"I'm Demyx," he said, giving Cloud a sunny smile. "I knew you had to be new, I thought that me and my roommate were the only blondes in the house," he laughed as he curled his legs under him.
Cloud laughed softly at that, “So, I guess there’s only three of us then, huh?” He asked with a smile.
He nodded. "Yeah and us blondes are going to have to stick together," he said with a grin as he made himself comfortable.
“MmHm.” Cloud said with a nod, taking a seat in the chair next to the other blond, “So, if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?”
"Just turned 19 last week...I know, everyone tells me I look younger," he said with a smile.
“...No, you look like a 19 year old. And, trust I know, I stare at them all day.” Cloud said, with a laugh, “I’m a college professor.” He explained.
"I'm glad you have reason to look at teenagers all day, you had me worried for a moment there." He grinned at Cloud to show he was kidding. "You're a college professor, I'm a college drop out. Good pair if i do say so myself."
Cloud snickered at the first part, “Why’d you drop out?” He asked. Not really surprised because that happened to a lot of freshmen for various reasons.
"To be on the show is the short answer, if you want the long version...I'll share."
“Sure.” Cloud said with a shrug.
"My parents are insanely overprotective and are both lawyers. The only way they were going to pay for school was if I stayed at home and went to law school." He sighed softly before continuing, "I hated it. The last thing in the world I want to be is a lawyer. So I dropped out and came on the show without telling them."
Cloud laughed softly at that, “Boy, that sounds like my father.” He said, “Except in stead of law school it was the military.”
"That sounds worse than law school. Did you manage to get away or..." he trailed off as he gave Cloud a small smile.
“Oh no, I ran when he first brought it up in my senior year.” Cloud said, shaking his head slowly with a chuckle, “I moved in with my aunt and uncle to finish off my last year then went off to college.”
"Good, I'm glad you got away. I don't know what I'm going to do after the show ends. I guess I'll figure that out as I go," he mused as he chewed on his lower lip.
“Eh, couldn’t you find a job while your here? I heard from one of the producers that we can have jobs...the cameras will just follow us to work.” Cloud suggested, “You could work and save money then get your own place.”
"Really? I guess I could do that...might as well add first job to the things that have happened in this house to me," he said with a laugh. "Living on my own...I'd never even thought about it."
“It gets lonely, don’t get me wrong.” Cloud said, “But, that’s why I got a cat.”
Demyx laughed at that. "So, where's your cat now? Probably missing you like crazy."
“Yeah, she’s with my friend Tifa...probably clawing through her sofa right now.” Cloud replied with a nod, “Yeah, Butch can get that way when I’m gone for too long.”
"Ah, I'm sure your friend is going to hate you for leaving the cat with her by the time you get back."
“Yeah, she’ll probably kick my ass and make me pay for the damage.” Cloud replied with a laugh, “But, she’s the one who got me the cat.”
"Then she can't complain too much." Demyx laughed as he shifted in the chair, moving so that his legs were hanging off the arm.
“Oh, but she will. She already left me two threatening text messages.” Cloud replied.
"You try tallking to the producers? Maybe the cat can become he house mascot," he suggested, only half serious.
Cloud frowned lightly on that, “Then no one would ever come near me again.” He pointed out softly, “She’s...possessive, I guess. I’ll put it this way, the last guy I brought home...in under an hour she had him running out of my apartment screaming about demon cats.”
"Aww, I'm sure she isn't that bad," he said with a laugh.
Cloud chuckled softly, “I have pictures of the man in the hospital from what she did to him.” He said, “There on my computer if you want to see them.”
Demyx paled a bit a that, shaking his head. "No, that's okay. I'll take your word for it." He grinned. "Anything else besides a possessive cat I need to about?"
“Uh, no, not that I can think of.” Cloud said with a laugh.
"Hm, that's good to know." He stretched his arms over his head as he stared at the wall of books before him. "Can you suggest something that might keep me entertained?"
“Depends, what do you like to read?”
Demyx shrugged. "I dunno... I've never really read much outside the required reading for school. What's your favorite?"
“I’m a lit professor, I’ll read anything once.” Cloud replied, “But, I prefer the classics.” He said, grinning, “Frankenstein and Dracula. Classic horror I should say.”
"I've never read either of those...wonder if they have them here." He grinned a Cloud before sliding out of the chair and beginning to search the shelves.
“If not, I have both with me.” Cloud replied, “You can borrow them, I have others too, if your interested.”
He turned toward Cloud, giving up his search at the offer. "Yeah, that sounds good. I doubt they'd have them here anyway."
Cloud nodded, “Alright.” He said, standing, “You want to go now?”
The blonde looked a little hesitant to follow Cloud to his bedroom, but quickly shook the feeling off as he smiled at him. "Yeah, let's go"
Cloud returned the other blond’s smile, beckoning him to follow him to his room. His room was fairly empty, well, half of it was. Considering his roommate was missing and had yet to unpack their things, “The books are in the case over there, just take what you like.” He said, nodding towards the case against the wall before he took a seat at his computer.
Demyx wandered over to the books, lightly running his fingers over the spines as he pondered his options, eventually settling on Frankenstein. "I think I'll start with this one."
Cloud nodded, glancing over his shoulder, smiling, “Enjoy it.” He said with a grin, “Tell me how you liked it when your finished!”
"I will," he promised as he walked up behind Cloud, being nosy. "Watcha doing?"
Cloud flushed lightly, “Oh well...” He said, finding no way to talk himself out of it, “I’m...uh...writing a book?”
"Really? That's cool."
“I guess...but, it all sucks, so...I’m thinking about deleting it.” Cloud said with a heavy sigh, turning back to his computer.
Demyx looked shocked at Clouds words, stepping closer and cautiously putting his hands on the older blondes shoulders. "Don't delete it. I'm sure it's great," he encouraged with a smile.
Cloud shook his head, "It could be a lot better." He said with a sigh, "You could read it sometime if you'd like, it'd be great to have a second opinion."
He thought this over for a moment. "Tell you what, I finish this one," he held up the copy of Frankenstein, "And then I'll start in on yours. If you haven't deleted it by then," he was just teasing with the last sentence, he couldn't resist.
Cloud chuckled softly at the playful teasing, "I'll make sure I don't now." He replied, "Enjoy the book."
Demyx laughed as his hands seemed to move on their own, reaching out to play with one of Cloud's spikes. He blushed slightly when he realized what he was doing, pulling his hand away. "I should probably go," he said softly.
Cloud didn't mind the action in the least, even if it was a little odd, "If you want to." Cloud answered, looking over his shoulder to give the younger man a grin, "Come back anytime you'd like though."
Demyx returned the grin. "Oh, I'm sure I'll be back. Need someone to discuss the book with after all."
Cloud chuckled once more, "I'd be the one to do that with." He said, giving the boy another smile.
"Thanks for the book." The blonde grinned at Cloud once more before leaving the room, clutching the book to his chest.
"Welcome~!" Cloud called after him, grinning as he set out working on his book once more, newly inspired to finish it.
Demyx glanced over his shoulder at the door to Cloud's room before going into his own, curling up in the middle of the bed as he cracked the book open and began to read.
((ooc: I'm too lazy to log into Cloud's journal to post this...))
