H50 100th ep (Ina Paha)

I don't really want or expect to have feelings about this show anymore. They always set my teeth on edge with their depictions of casual police violence, for many reasons.

BUT.

H50 brings the team and bromance and h/c on a consistent basis, even this far into it. Alex O'Laughlin gave an INTENSE and really gorgeously nuanced performance in the last 15 minutes. So much face acting - the complicated expression that passed over his face/through his eyes when he looked down at Wo Fat's dead body was really masterful. Same with his reactions when Danny and Chin were crouched beside him on the floor, and he realized his dad was really dead. Wow.

Also, when Danny helped Steve to sit and then tucked him immediately under Danny's wing like a shivering chick that needed warmth and comfort, and basically kept him right there with his hand on Steve's neck, I really considered going immediately over to AO3 and looking for the episode tags for this ep because COME ON, that gave me so many feels, ugh. SO MANY FEELS. Danny must be SO TIRED of Steve almost dying. I need fic about this.

ALSO. Let's discuss the extremely excellent fanvid that closed out the episode. I mean. That was a fanvid. It hit all the highlights, and I'm glad they didn't leave anyone out except for Steve's mom and aunt. Heh. Sorry. I needed that to be about the team kind of ohana, and it was. Plus Grace.

And finally, I loved both of Steve's in-captivity fights. Although I do have to say, for a martial artist, Mark Dacascos is weirdly graceless. He moves like a duck out of water. There's no fluidity to his movements; he's awkward and kind of clunky. So even though his fight choreo was flawless, it was still sort of weird to watch. But the fights were ugly and brutal and had kind of a raw and epic edge to them, which I greatly appreciated. Plus I always like to see Steve bloody, burned, completely fucked up, and basically not even noticing what a complete mess he is while he's getting on with the business of surviving.

Except when they hauled him off the floor at the end, when he was finally free, and he was shaking, and that was amazing. I loved it.

Aw, H50. I remember when I was so passionate about you. Thanks for reminding me for a minute.
