Dear Festividder...

Dear Festividder: Thank you very much for the vid you're about to make for me! I'll be happy with whatever you do, because all these fandoms are woefully lacking in great vids, so please rest assured on that point. I don't actually have song suggestions, because I wouldn't want to hobble you in any way. If you're looking for some insight into my general likes/dislikes, and what I specifically enjoy about the sources I requested...here you go. I'll crib from sdwolfpup's format, so I can talk about music, too.

General likes and dislikes:

Visual style - where vids are concerned, there isn't much of anything I dislike. I enjoy slow-paced character vids without flashy effects just as much as I enjoy snappy, shiny vids with fast cutting. I don't think one is better or worse than the other. It's all good. Vids that use effects with some specific purpose in mind in terms of adding to the vid's narrative are especially spiffy. I love vids that illuminate character and evoke emotion most of all. I like to come away feeling something - sad, creeped out, touched, thrilled, etc.

Music - I'm not a huge fan of country, some punk rock, or speed metal. I love most rock, folk, pop, goth, overblown cheesy soundtrack music, 80's songs, alternative, etc. Mostly if you pick a piece of music that suits the tone of the show, and doesn't make me do a puppy head-tilt, I will probably love it as a package deal.

Other: I think probably you wouldn't offer to vid these things if you didn't like them, but maybe? I would just ask that you not make fun of them in a mean-spirited way. (Parody and earnest LKBV = thumbs up.)

American Gothic

Details: Something creeeeeepy would be lovely. Quirky is good, too. Both match the tone of the show. Fave character: Sheriff Buck.

Additional: This show was seriously weird, and quirkily dark, and anything that plays those elements up gets an A+++ from me. Sheriff Buck is my favorite, as I mentioned in notes, and his relationship with various folks (especially Lucas) is intriguing. But also, he is the devil! So that's fun to play with.

Homicide: Life on the Street

Details: I love almost all characters who appeared in the show before season six, but Pembleton is my FAVORITE, and there cannot be too many Pembleton vids. (Considering that there are only four or five as it is, I think that's an understatement.)

Additional: My other favorite characters, in approximate order of favoriteness: Bayliss, Meldrick Lewis, Kellerman, Howard. And partnerships...Lewis and Kellerman, and Pembleton and Bayliss. Yay. G also is awesome.

Indiana Jones series (movies)

Details: INDDYYYYYYYY! Side note about Shia LaBoeuf (sp): do not want.

Additional: Please see above note about Shia.

Red Dawn - 1984

Details: I would be so happy to see a vid for this, I wouldn't even care what it was about. But you know, heroic angsty sacrifice and all that = win.

Additional: The minor characters in this movie were the most awesome - Col. Bella, and Andy Tanner. But there's not really enough source to build around them, I don't think. I love the brothers (Swayze and Sheen), and I love lone wolf C. Thomas Howell, and how brave the girls are, and the way they form their team, and the theme of family, and. Yeah.

Remember the Titans

I don't have a lot to offer on this one, except to say I love this movie completely and will be thrilled if you vid it. You have relationships, social commentary, feel-good triumph followed by tragedy, excellent coaching...there's a lot to work with.

Rome

Details: My favorite characters are Pullo and Vorenus, but I also have mad love for Caesar and Marc Antony. Having said that, I have watched the entire show start to finish 6 times, and will love any vid about it.

Additional: the show has gorgeous visuals, and there's so much that can be done with them. Also, Vorenus is this fandom's little red kilt. (Well, where Pullo and Anthony are concerned. *g*)

V - 1983

Details: If you are able to make an exciting action vid out of this deliciously cheesy talkyface show, I will love you forever.

Additional: I remember this miniseries and show with deep fondness and nostalgia. Favorite characters here: Willy the alien, and Ham Tyler (MICHAEL IRONSIDE YAY). Julie was also awesome, and so are the scenery-chewing baddies. Things I could do without: the hysterical teenager who gave birth to the starchild. And also the starchild. *g*

White Nights - 1985

Additional: Two of the greatest dancers who ever lived, dancing and being buddies. Helen Mirren. The sun that never sets. Drinking and crying. Dancing. Desperate escapes. Then more dancing. There is no bad here.
