Happy Monday! Last week was one of those weeks where I felt slightly bruised by the time Friday rolled around, as if someone handled me a bit too roughly and then threw me back in the bin. I spent the weekend cleaning the house (intermittently) and editing. I have red correction marks floating before my eyes like sunspots. This week will be better, no matter what, because greensilver will be here in a few days and then we will be at Disneyland! \o/! No way is that not a prescription for happiness. My sparkly ears are at the ready.
Does anyone know of a community where I can find SPN-themed headers? I'm on the hunt for smiling boys in appropriately-sized and pleasingly colored headers. Please point the way!

Shelter Beneath the Mundane by drvsilla - an inventive story about what it takes for Dean to survive.
The Last Outpost Of All That Is by eighth_horizon - I was among the first non-betas to read this, I think, judging by how early my comment was. But I waited to rec it, because I was still absorbing it. The day after I read it, I told someone it was possibly the best slash story ever, and I haven't changed my mind. I think that's because it's...well. It's the essence of what good slash is all about, but that doesn't quite do it justice. It's Sam and Dean at the end of the world, sort of, and for 61,000 words, the writer builds a post-apocalypse filled with love and hope and aching need. The apocalypse isn't the point, though it serves as a creepy and fantastically detailed background and foundation -- it's the catalyst to the real story, which is the relationship between Sam and Dean. And I think it's gorgeous, and I think most Sam/Dean people will enjoy every moment of reading it. It's really amazing.

ring them bells by technosage - At Christmas, I requested a holiday story from technosage, and in response she wrote this incredibly awesome entry into the Break Loose Ranch series, which I love. LOVE. It causes me to break out in flail regularly. It's my all-time favorite J2 AU series of self-contained stories, featuring a very toppy Jared who owns his own ranch and wants Jensen like breathing, and a twitchy but grown-up Jensen who has his own baggage and history and issues.
Mirror, Mirror by teand - Awww, Jensen turns 30, and sweet manly insecurity and sexy banter ensues.
30 by _doodle - Thirty kisses for thirty birthdays, and totally adorable. There is no bad about Jared kissing on Jensen all day.
